Deadpool & Wolverine is the latest installment in the MCU and has become the most successful film in Phases 4 and 5. The movie broke several box office records and delighted fans with plenty of laughs, along with Deadpool and Wolverine’s official entry into the MCU.
While audiences embraced the film, critics pointed out its lack of depth. Interestingly, it was also linked to She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Critics observed that elements heavily criticized in She-Hulk—such as the dance scenes—were praised in Deadpool & Wolverine, attributing the show’s lack of success to issues of patriarchy once again.
Shortly after the movie’s release, rumors began circulating that She-Hulk was meant to have two cameo scenes. Tatiana Maslany filmed these appearances, including a significant fight scene with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
However, after two weeks of training, her performance received criticism during test screenings for lacking the intensity and skill of her co-stars, leading to the decision to cut her scenes.
Additionally, a controversial moment in which She-Hulk scolded Wade Wilson and Logan while breaking the fourth wall was removed at Ryan Reynolds’ request to keep the focus on the FOX legacy characters instead of newer MCU additions.
Reports suggested that Maslany threatened legal action against Reynolds, but these remain unconfirmed rumors.
Recently, Maslany appeared on Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast, where she humorously addressed these rumors. When asked about the recent MCU gossip, she commented on her two cameo scenes and the alleged legal action against Disney.
I was in Deadpool & Wolverine. I had two scenes in it. And then Ryan Reynolds fired me from the show because he said, ‘I don’t like these scenes.’ Now I’m suing Disney
It’s fair to say that the actress used this response to debunk the rumors. She also poked fun at some of the fans who accused her of promoting feminist propaganda:
I always talk about how much I hate Wolverine and Deadpool. I talk about it all the time. I also wish I’d just sit down and stop pushing my feminist agenda and just realize that [Deadpool & Wolverine] made a lot of money and She-Hulk only made three dollars
That’s why they were getting rid of me because I had this woke agenda and I really wanted to bring it into the movie.
While we don’t know what the future holds for She-Hulk in the MCU, the actress previously admitted that the show was expensive to produce and struggled to attract an audience, making a second season unlikely.
