With three episodes to go, The Penguin is still being praised by both fans and critics, as the series is evolving in a magnificent way while exploring the story of Penguin’s rise in Gotham after The Batman, as well as the story of Sofia Falcone, who became an unexpected big played in the city.
We have praised Milioti’s performance, as well as how the character is written, calling her a scene-stealer who became one of the show’s best aspects.
Recently, we reported on the rumor that Milioti might be back for The Batman: Part II, and the same source now has another piece of information for us.
And while we have known that Farrell would be back for The Batman: Part II, it seems – according to the source – that Penguin is going to play a big role in the upcoming sequel to Matt Reeves’ hit film, so we might have some ideas on what that movie is going to look like after all.
The source of this rumor – about the size of Penguin’s role – is MyTimeToShineHello, the same source that reported Sofia will have a major role in the sequel. Now, while MyTimeToShineHello is a popular source, they are also a very unreliable source as many of their rumors proved to be false, so we advise you to take everything they say with a grain of salt. Moving on, here is what they said:
And Penguin too of course https://t.co/1jg1LugbAa

Okay, to be fair, we don’t know whom Reeves will pick as the villain of the second movie, but to be honest, this theory seems a bit disappointing, which is why we’re not prone to believe it, really.
Sure, we know that Penguin is coming back for the movie and we still don’t know what the series plans to do with Sofia, but it is a fact that moving forward, the crime/mafia aspect of Batman’s lore is always pushed back, as the threat of his Rogues Gallery becomes bigger.
If the rumors are true, then it means that Sofia and the Penguin will, once again, be the main villains, and that doesn’t seem like something people want.
The series was their thing and they were/are the protagonists there. Why would Reeves do the same thing, but this time in a shorter format, as the movie will roughly be between two and three hours long, probably? This doesn’t seem reasonable to us.
And while it won’t be impossible to integrate the two characters into the movie, giving them a big role wouldn’t make much sense. We have the Riddler and Catwoman, and we know Joker exists in Reeves’ universe as well.
The setting for the second movie heavily hints at Mr. Freeze, so how and why would the story once again focus on Sofia and Oswald? It wouldn’t make much sense, really, and we don’t even know whether Sofia will survive the series or not.
Having said this, we still don’t know much about the sequel. Aside from Pattinson, Wright, Serkis, and Farrell are the only confirmed returning cast members, so we’ll have to wait and see, but we truly think that Reeves will want to move forward, which won’t leave much space for Sofia and Oswald, unless they’re integrated into a bigger story, but that would mean that their roles will be smaller than the rumor suggests.
