Bridgerton Season 4’s Sophie Beckett Casting Sparks Near Unanimous Response From The Internet

Benedict talking to Eloise in Bridgerton while Yerin Ha looks to her side in HaloBridgerton has officially cast Yerin Ha as Sophie Beckett, and the Internet is overjoyed. Based on Julia Quinn’s books, every season of the show follows a different Bridgerton sibling as they romantically settle down with their partner. Benedict (Luke Thompson) has spent much of the time avoiding matchmaking at the ton, but Sophie Beckett will serve as his true love as the two connect in the coming episodes. Ha will be taking up the role in Bridgerton season 4, which will adapt book 3 of the novel series.

While Ha has not yet appeared as Sophie, the Internet is ecstatic about her casting. Many Bridgerton viewers took to X to celebrate her upcoming appearance. Check out their responses below:

The upcoming season will adapt Benedict’s book An Offer From a Gentleman. Sophie has a unique story in the Bridgerton universe, as she is meant to represent a Cinderella narrative. She was born out of wedlock and lived as a ward on her father’s estate, though she never had the opportunity to ensure a real connection with someone else. Her stepmother tormented her throughout her childhood, which grew worse after her father died. Despite her painful childhood, Sophie has maintained her good nature while working as a maid under her stepmother’s roof. It’s uncertain whether season 4 will follow similar plotlines.

Ha is best known for her performance in Halo, which saw her as the intelligent young rebel Kwan Ha. She is also slated to have a role in Dune: Prophecy as the younger version of a loyal member of the Sisterhood of Dune. Both major roles showcase Ha’s talent in a sci-fi landscape, but Sophie will allow her to play a down-to-earth romantic character. Her most similar role would be in the Australian limited series, Bad Behavior, which saw Ha as a scholarship student struggling at an expensive school.

Ha will become the first East Asian actor to portray a main character in the series, offering more representation in an otherwise already diverse cast.

With Ha already demonstrating her versatility in different genres, she will also be helping to ensure an even more diverse casting in the hit Netflix series. The Korean-Australian actor can continue Bridgerton‘s trend that explores diversity and interracial relationships in the romantic period genre. Ha will become the first East Asian actor to portray a main character in the series, offering more representation in an otherwise already diverse cast. Season 4 will give her a chance to showcase her range while still building on a beloved world and expanding its reach.
