In The Lincoln Lawyer season 3’s ending, Sam Scales’s body was found in the trunk of Mickey’s car. If Netflix renews the legal drama, season 4 will adapt Michael Connelly’s “The Law of Innocence,” a story that features Mickey charged with murder. Mickey knows he’s been framed, but he will still be forced to go through a trial, just like everyone else in that situation. Maggie is confirmed to have a more prominent role in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, and Lorna will be involved in the trial. That said, the show has a chance to utilize flashbacks to tie together pivotal moments in Mickey’s life as he faces his biggest challenge yet.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Needs A Flashback To Mickey & Lorna’s Marriage After Season 3’s Maggie Sequence
Season 4 Can Repeat The Flashback Method From Season 3
Following The Lincoln Lawyer season 3’s flashback sequences looking back on Mickey and Maggie’s marriage, season 4 would benefit from doing something similar with Mickey and Lorna. Becki Newton’s The Lincoln Lawyer character continues to be a prominent figure in the Netflix series, but before she started working for Mickey, the pair were married. Not much has been revealed about their time together aside from the fact that the marriage didn’t last long. However, following a look into Mickey’s time being happily married to Maggie, it would be interesting for The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 to dive into Mickey’s past with Lorna.
The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 opened with a sequence showing Mickey surfing as he was met by Maggie. Campbell’s character was seen later that episode in another flashback, revealing how much Maggie worried about the risks surrounding Mickey’s methods as a defense lawyer. Though Campbell only appeared in two episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer season 3, Maggie’s role was significant. Lorna, on the other hand, passed her bar exam and received a bigger career opportunity alongside Mickey. They’ve both come a long way, and Mickey’s impending legal trouble will affect both of their lives.
How Mickey & Lorna’s Marriage Flashback Can Tie Into The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4’s Story Tease
Mickey Will Have A Lot Of Time To Look Back At His Past
Mickey will likely have a lot of time to reflect on his career and overall past as he awaits the trial. In doing so, the show may delve into those most important to him, including Lorna. A flashback of Mickey and Lorna’s origins or just a significant moment they shared together could be a great way to connect to Mickey’s current fate, in the same way season 3 used flashbacks of Maggie to link back to Mickey’s present-day story. As a lawyer now, Lorna will be vital to Mickey’s case, not just as a co-worker but as a close friend. Their romantic relationship may be long over, but their friendship evolved into a loyal partnership that will be tested in season.
“…the murder charge at the center of The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 gives Mickey a chance to look back at how his decisions affect everyone around him.”
After Mickey and Lorna got married, they both quickly accepted the fact that the marriage was a mistake before getting divorced. Mickey has had his fair share of struggles in life, but his two failed marriages evidently led to two strong relationships with his ex-wives. Still, the break-ups link to impulsivities and mistakes in Mickey’s career and personal life. As his job often spills out into his personal life, putting those he cares for in danger, the murder charge at the center of The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 gives Mickey a chance to look back at how his decisions affect everyone around him.
