The show follows the titular character, Daryl Dixon, who gets shipped off to France and is forced to confront a new set of zombies and villains. Season 3 was confirmed at the San Diego Comic-Con ahead of season 2’s premiere.

Now, Collider has shared a video that confirms that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 has officially begun filming. The video announcement comes from stars Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, with the pair in full costume. Season 3 is currently being shot in Spain, as the show looks to continue Daryl and Carol’s intriguing story. Also shared was a statement from Zabel:

As The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 is yet to premiere, the details for the show’s third outing are still under wraps. However, it has been hinted that season 3 will follow Daryl Dixon and new character Carol Peletier as they continue their journey to somehow return home to America. The show’s official logline reads: “As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse.”

Reedus has also hinted the show could return for season 4, which could bring them to other parts of Europe as they attempt to get home.

It can be expected that what happens in the forthcoming The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 will set up the subsequent season. As such, it will be interesting to see what becomes of characters like Isabelle and Laurent and if they make the trip with Daryl to Spain. Manish Dayal has been confirmed to be appearing in season 2 of the show, and it will also be interesting to see what also becomes of her character in season 3.

Following the confirmation of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 during the show’s SDCC panel, it was also confirmed that the season would officially arrive in 2025.
