Jodie Foster Inside Man

Jodie Foster Cast in New French Film

Academy Award-winning actress, Jodie Foster, has come on board the latest film from director Rebecca ZlotowskiVie Privée.

Jodie Foster, who is fluent in French, will be starring in the upcoming international film, Vie Privée. This film has started shooting in France. This is director Zlotowski’s next big entry in her filmography, following the critical acclaim of Other People’s Children.

Foster needs no formal introduction. She’s been an American staple of quality entertainment for some time.  Marty Scorsese’s Taxi Driver catapulted her to stardom in the mid 1970’s as she was nominated for an Oscar for her work in that film and she’s been winning awards and acting in high-profile projects for decades. She was recently nominated for yet another Oscar for her wonderful work opposite Annette Bening in last year’s Netflix drama, Nyad.

Vie Privée is also set to feature acclaimed French actor Daniel Auteuil starring beside Foster in the upcoming film. Zlotowski had previously directed projects as diverse as Grand CentralBelle Epine, not to mention the very interesting, Planetarium.

While Foster deservedly won her first Oscar for the riveting drama, The Accused, not many people were expecting her to take home another Best Actress trophy for her work in the 1991 thriller, The Silence of the Lambs, but she did. Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor for that same film for which Foster won. It’s interesting to note that the wonderful actress did her first French acting as a teenager in a fascinating film called, Fleur Beau. In 2004, Foster appeared in the popular Jean-Pierre Jeunet film, A Very Long Engagement, where she played with the brilliant, Audrey Tautou. It is also fascinating to note that Foster won an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021.

Other roles of Foster have been quite diverse. In 1994, she appeared in awards-caliber work in the deep drama, Nell, where she appeared opposite Liam Neeson. 2002 brought Foster to the big screen in David Fincher’s suspense thriller, Panic Room, where Foster appeared with a very young Kristen Stewart. In Spike Lee’s 2006 film, Inside Man, Foster co-starred with Denzel Washington in a role that differentiated from some of the other parts Foster has done throughout her career. It was an action picture, for one. Foster has worked steadily over recent years, also doing work on television in an acclaimed part in “True Detective: Night Country”

It has been reported that Foster credits her mother for turning her on to French cinema. The big question mark hanging over her upcoming film is whether Foster can pull off another Academy Award nod. More news will be revealed on this artsy and ambitious upcoming project as it develops.
