The last thing shown before the credits began to roll was the Orcs looking triumphantly out at the city they are planning to attack, indicating that the Siege of Eregion will pick up near the beginning of Rings of Power season 2, episode 6. In canon, this is the battle that starts Sauron’s war with the Elves, so it’s something Lord of the Rings fans have been eager to see play out for five years now.

A lot of time has been spent in Eregion in Rings of Power season 2 since this is the home of Lord Celebrimbor, who has been busy at work in his glorious forge crafting the Rings of Power. It’s been a real treat to see this Elven city on screen since it’s not one that existed during the events of The Lord of the Rings. This is because the battle teased by episode 5 will bring Eregion to its knees. It’s doomed to be destroyed, and the Elves will never again rebuild this once thriving city. In all, this is the event that demonstrates to the Elves that nothing in Middle-earth will ever be the same for them again.
