However, despite her bitter experience with the producer, she seemingly supported another controversial director, Woody Allen, who was accused of pedophilia and s*xual assault.
Cate Blanchett Revealed Harvey Weinstein Acted Inappropriately Around Her
In an interview with Variety, Australian star Cate Blanchett revealed she was also harassed by Harvey Weinstein at one point in her career. “I got a bad feeling from him,” she stated. The actress claimed that he would often tell her that they were not friends, and when probed about the meaning of this, she said it was because “I wouldn’t do what he was asking me to do.”
Blanchett did not elaborate on this, and it was the first time she ever spoke about the issue. She believed that he set an example of a certain type of man, and she wished that there was some sort of a legal precedent that would have him and other men like him face prosecution. At the time, the actress expressed her desire to see him incarcerated.

As one of the most influential female figures in Hollywood, Blanchett’s testimony might have inspired other victims to come forward and tell their stories. Interestingly, people believed she was contradicting her stance on the issue after seemingly showing support for Woody Allen.
The famed director infamously pursued a relationship with his adopted daughter Soon-Yi and was also accused of s*xual assault. Blanchett admitted via CNN that she did not stay silent during the whole fiasco. “At the time that I worked with Woody Allen, I knew nothing of the allegations,” she reasoned.
Many actors have already expressed regret working with the veteran filmmaker, but Blanchett remained in the safe lane. “I feel that these things need to go into court,” she remarked before stating that social media should not be the judge or jury in this matter.
Blanchett was criticized by the public, including Allen’s daughter Dylan Farrow, who claimed to have been abused by the man. Farrow called out other celebrities supporting Allen, such as Alec Baldwin, Emma Stone, Scarlett Johansson, and Diane Keaton, in an open letter.

In the same conversation with Variety, Blanchett still did not address if she wanted to work with Allen again, stating that she had a great time collaborating with the director in the past and the only solution to the problem was to bring it to the court.
Surprisingly, she noted how there are other male directors she doesn’t want to work with again but not necessarily for the reason that they laid a finger on her.
Her vague answers regarding Allen’s case enraged the public and made them speculate that she was truly supporting him amid the controversy.
