The California native married Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester in 2014 – and they have enjoyed their marriage out of the public eye.

Adam and Leighton didn’t announce their marriage and kept their ceremony extremely private. Us Weekly broke the news on February 18, 2014, and Adam confirmed the nuptials when he was approached by a TooFab reporter days later.

“Hey man, is it true you really got married?” the paparazzi asked Adam, who simply replied, “Yeah.”

Adam’s role as Seth Cohen in The O.C. and Leighton’s role as Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf kickstarted their romance years before they actually started dating. In 2021, Adam revealed that Josh Schwartz, who produced both shows, briefly introduced the pair while running in similar circles.

Adam and Leighton reconnected in 2011 when they costarred in the film Oranges, but he was dating ex-girlfriend Lorene Scafaria at the time. After he became single, Adam started dating Leighton in 2013.

“Now she tells everyone, ‘I don’t understand why people are scared. I’ve seen The Ring,’” Adam said. “She throws it around.”

One month prior, Adam revealed that he and the Country Strong star are “honest” with their kids and have “truthful conversations, for better or worse.”

“There is a helicopter, you know, to keep them safe,” he said on Today with Hoda and Jenna. “I’m not overly strict but I see the sharp edges, literally. And their heads aren’t gonna … I want to keep those heads maintained.”
