Julian Hilliard portrayed Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. the young Wiccan, in WandaVision, but he ceased to exist when the Scarlet Witch dismantled her magical Hex around Westview, New Jersey. Agatha All Along saw Billy Maximoff return to the MCU, however, only now he is portrayed by Heartstopper star Joe Locke. This dramatic change was explained in Agatha All Along episode 6, “Familiar By Thy Side,” which may have presented Marvel Studios with a fantastic way to explain the Scarlet Witch’s return, despite her demise in the MCU’s Phase 4.
Billy Maximoff’s Soul Jumped Into A New Body After His Death In WandaVision
Agatha All Along Episode 6 Introduced William Kaplan To The MCU

After Joe Locke’s mysterious “Teen” outed himself to be Wiccan in the final moments of Agatha All Along episode 5, “Darkest Hour/Wake Thy Power,” episode 6 revealed more about his return to the MCU. Episode 6 introduced audiences to Joe Locke’s William Kaplan, who had been celebrating his Bar Mitzvah in Eastview on the same day that WandaVision’s series finale was happening in Westview. His celebration was cut short when the Scarlet Witch began to dismantle the Hex, causing mass panic, which culminated in the Kaplans being driven off the road and William’s life unfortunately being cut short.

At this exact moment, the Hex was brought down, and Billy Maximoff’s physical form disintegrated. However, Billy’s soul somehow made its way into William Kaplan’s now-empty body, allowing the Scarlet Witch’s son to live on, though he suffered with amnesia and was hidden from the magical community by Lilia Calderu’s sigil. Jumping into William Kaplan’s body allowed Billy Maximoff to continue on despite his death, which may present the Scarlet Witch with the perfect opportunity to return in quite a similar way.
Wanda Maximoff May Have Found A New Body After Her Doctor Strange 2 Death
Wanda Maximoff May Have Pulled Off Her Son’s Trick After Doctor Strange 2

Although unconfirmed, it’s possible that Wanda Maximoff may have done the same as her son following her demise in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, perhaps finding herself a new body. Multiverse of Madness ended with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch learning the error of her ways and realizing her corruption at the hands of the Darkhold. This spurred her to use her magic to destroy the Darkhold Castle on Mount Wundagore, along with every copy of the Darkhold from across the multiverse, sacrificing herself in the process.
In the years since, Marvel Studios has provided confirmation of the Scarlet Witch’s death time and again, with Agatha All Along being the most recent project to stress the fact that she is indeed deceased. Despite this, the Scarlet Witch’s return to the MCU has been heavily theorized, and it seems as though Agatha All Along has now added fuel to the fire. Wanda Maximoff’s soul could have easily latched onto a newly-dead body after her death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, meaning she may be living in the MCU with a serious case of amnesia.

A New Theory Connects The Scarlet Witch’s Return To The Multiverse

While it’s possible that Wanda Maximoff’s soul may have found a new body following her death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, this may mean that she would return to the MCU being played by a new actor, not Elizabeth Olsen. This would be a controversial move from Marvel Studios, but a new theory shared by Reddit user Moodmuzik4 explains how the Scarlet Witch could inhabit another character’s body and still be played by Olsen. Thanks to the magic of the multiverse, Wanda Maximoff’s soul could have jumped across realities.
Other versions of Wanda Maximoff from across the multiverse have already been seen in the MCU. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced the Scarlet Witch from Earth-838, while What If…? has also introduced Scarlet Witch variants. If a variant of Wanda Maximoff had met her demise, it seems possible Earth-616’s version could have jumped into a new world in her final moments and assumed a new life, perhaps forgetting her life before, just like Billy Maximoff, but allowing her to return to the MCU in a way that is already tried and tested.
Why This Scarlet Witch Theory Makes Sense For The MCU
Scarlet Witch In A New Body Would Be A Great Way For Her To Return

The prospect of the Scarlet Witch being out there somewhere with a nasty dose of amnesia could perfectly set the stage for an adaptation of Marvel Comics’ Children’s Crusade storyline, which has been rumored for the MCU. Kicking off in 2010, Avengers: Children’s Crusade saw the Young Avengers head out to search for the missing Wanda Maximoff after they realize that Wiccan and Speed are her reincarnated sons. They eventually find an amnesiac Wanda Maximoff living in Latveria, who is curiously betrothed to none other than Doctor Doom.
With Robert Downey Jr. soon set to debut in the MCU as Doctor Doom, it seems as though all the foundations are in place for Children’s Crusade to get a live-action adaptation. Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will seemingly come from an alternate reality, perhaps one where Wanda Maximoff’s soul from Earth-616 inhabited her variant after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Joe Locke’s Wiccan and a new version of Tommy Maximoff’s Speed could find their mother at Doctor Doom’s side after Agatha All Along, finally bringing the Scarlet Witch back to the MCU.
