The presidential elections in the United States are over. Finally, many of you will say. Our lives can finally go back to normal and we can put the whole election anxiety behind us. But, of course, like every aspect of our lives, the entertainment industry has also been influenced by the elections and while the story we have for you now is not related to the current ones, it is related to politics.

Namely, you might have already heard that seven years ago, Marvel edited an already prepared comic book that contained a Donald Trump joke, probably because they did not want to anger the then-Marvel chair and Donald Trump colleague Isaac Perlmutter. But that is not the whole story.

Although the comic book containing the joke was never supposed to come out, it turns out that some copies were printed and while most of them were ultimately shredded, some ended up in the hands of the fans, which is very interesting!

Back in 2017, the Marvel Two-In-One was supposed to feature a joke that was aimed at Donald Trump. This was done in the period around the 2016 elections when Trump beat Hillary Clinton.

The joke from the comic book featured Spider-Man and the Thing, with the former saying to the latter: “You dunce! I’m here to support you! The world’s second most well-known orange monster!” You can check out the original panel here:

But, if you’ve read the comic or the original story brought to you by BleedingCool, you’ll probably remember that the panel, when it came out, looked like this:

So, yeah, the joke was ultimately censored and cut out of the comic, but we luckily found out about it thanks to the original panel leaking online.

As said in the introduction, this was probably done in light of Trump’s victory and the people at Marvel did not want to cause problems with their then-head, Isaac Perlmutter, who has close ties to Donald Trump. It was a pragmatic decision before anything else.

And while, officially, no copies of the comic with the joke ever came out, we know that about 47,000 copies of the comic with the original joke were actually printed in physical form, but while all of them should have been shredded and destroyed, if you look at the image below, you will see that some such copies survived:

This is a very rare copy, to be frank, and BleedingCool has the information in case you want to buy it, as it seems to be up for grabs.

In light of that, we have to say that the shredding was seemingly done so well that there is only one known copy of the comic book in existence, although there probably are more out there, people either don’t want to publicize it, or they don’t know that they have them.
