Kasha, Emperor Javicco Corrino’s (Mark Strong) Truthsayer, plays an important role in Dune: Prophecy episode 1, and she gets several standout moments, including a nightmare sequence that suggests Ynez’s (Sarah-Sofie Boussnina) crowning will serve as the Sisterhood’s downfall.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jihae explains Kasha’s vision, teasing what it means for the show’s future episodes. In addition to teasing that the nightmare is paving the way for some “carnage” to come, the actor also reveals that Ynez’s crowning isn’t what eventually leads to this dark future. She definitely sees a darkness coming for the Sisterhood, and she worries that it is going to be directly caused by the plan of putting Ynez on the throne. Because Ynez was in her nightmare, she probably believes that this is what’s going to happen.

The original Mother Superior many years ago said, “This is the sign, this is the burning truth, and you will see it.” Kasha is a Truthsayer, and she is the most gifted of all the Truthsayers that exist in the Sisterhood. That’s why she’s the right hand of the Emperor of the known universe. But back home, she is a prophet who’s not heard. With her gifts, she’s having these dreams and her ancestors are speaking to her, but her sisters will not hear her.

I think she interpreted the dream as something that’s definitely going to happen, and that’s detrimental to the Sisterhood. There’s going to be some carnage, and she suspects it’s going to be Ynez. But, as you find out later, it’s not.

Before appearing in Dune: Prophecy , Jihae appeared in the hit HBO show Succession, in addition to roles in Altered Carbon and Mars .

Episode 1 ends with Kasha burning to death from within, affirming that the older version of the character likely won’t be appearing as part of the Dune: Prophecy cast of characters in future episodes. Her nightmare, however, could end up being especially significant. Kasha was in a position of great power among the Sisterhood as the Emperor’s Truthsayer, and she was aligned with Valya’s grand plan.

After her nightmare, Kasha meets with Valya and Tula and shares her concerns regarding Ynez’s ascension. This makes Valya question Kasha’s commitment to their plan, and Kasha’s death seemingly reaffirms to Watson’s character that she is following the correct path outlined by the Mother Superior. Kasha’s nightmare and her ultimate fate could suggest that Valya is leading the Sisterhood toward a dark future, and that she won’t listen to anyone that tells her otherwise. Tula is shown to be more receptive to Ynez’s reservations, and a rift could eventually form between the two Harkonnen sisters.

Dune: Prophecy reviews have been positive, but not as positive as the ones for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune (2021) and its acclaimed sequel from earlier this year. The show lacks the epic scale of the movies and has a more complex story that might prove too big for only six episodes, but it does offer plenty of palace intrigue and surprising narrative turns. Kasha was shaping up to be an exciting character in the show, and, despite her death, she could still play a role in the episodes to come, now seemingly constricted to appearing only in sequences set in the past.

Dune: Prophecy‘s talented cast is one of the show’s biggest strengths so far, and Jihae was a standout. It will be a shame to not have that character featured as prominently moving forward, butting heads with Valya, but she did serve an important narrative purpose. As Jihae teases, Kasha’s nightmare certainly sets the stage for intense events to come.
