Reba McEntire is sounding the alarm on an apparent online scam specifically targeting her social media followers.

The Grammy winner, 69, turned to Instagram to issue a PSA to remind fans to be cautious when using the internet.

The issue here is scammers have been using her name to extort money from fans via gift cards or electronic transfers in exchange for a promise to meet the star.

McEntire’s message starts with “Important Reminder” to grab the fans’ attention.

“I and my team will NEVER correspond with you from a direct message or cell phone number asking you for money in order to meet me,” the Nov. 17 announcement shared to the country singer’s social media accounts said.

“PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF ONLINE,” the statement reads in bold, red letters, “And do not give out any personal information, purchase gift cards or send money electronically to someone you do not know.”

The bottom of the statement features McEntire’s signature and was shared across all of her social media accounts, including X, Instagram and Facebook.

On Instagram, her team made sure to pin the statement to the top of her page.

This drew a number of fans to retweet the post, which also helped spread awareness of this fraudulent online behavior.

“Sad but true, unfortunately. I have had several of those accounts send me DM’s,” one X user wrote, mentioning that they’ve seen an uptick in online scams.

“Thank u for this because this is just so heartbreaking for people who actually try doing this to people. Thankfully I always knew that it wasn’t really u. But others may not have so thank u Reba for sharing this!” another user shared.

“I wish more celebrities would take the time to do this,” one user wrote on Instagram. “People are getting scammed left, right and [center].”
