Caitlyn looking serious in her armor next to Jinx looking smugly in her hood looking toward the camera in Arcane season 2 Arcane co-creator Christian Linke has confirmed details of three upcoming sequel shows, including how far along development is for the next series. Arcane season 2 ended the story of Piltover and Zaun, offering definitive closure to many characters’ storylines while also opening the door for new tales yet to come. Linke previously revealed information about these upcoming projects, including that several are in the works and some will continue the stories of characters from the first show. This means some familiar faces might be coming back in League of Legends‘ budding TV universe.

Now, speaking with Twitch streamer Necrit94 (via GamesRadar), Linke confirmed the next three League of Legends shows after Arcane will take place in Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. While it’s unclear what order these regions of Runeterra will show up, the co-creator and showrunner did confirm the next series is already a year into production. Given Linke had confirmed some characters in Arcane would be coming back in future shows, it seems likely Noxus will be the next region to be explored. Not only is Mel (Toks Olagundoye) originally from there alongside Ambessa (Ellen Thomas), but a three-eyed raven was seen in the show’s final minutes, signaling the arrival of the region’s ruler, Jericho Swain. He also plays a key role in a conflict with Ionia, meaning the two locations’ history could be connected in their shows, much like Piltover and Zaun.

The next series already being a year into production is good news as well, potentially making for a shorter wait between seasons. Arcane took six years for season 1 to be made, while an additional three years was needed for season 2. Depending on how long the planning stages for the next show were, it could arrive as early as 2026, though it’s unclear how much time will be needed for whatever region is next. But, given the success of their first show, new League of Legends series could be produced at a faster rate.

Linke’s statement is good news for League of Legends‘ TV universe, as there appears to be a solid plan as to what regions and storylines are going to be explored next. While some characters will return, the confirmation of new locations means it will feel less like Arcane season 3, and more like an independent follow-up set in the same world. With plenty of champions to feature and backstories to adapt, the first series is just the beginning for the video game adaptation’s new world.
