A new update for Santa Monica Studio and Sony’s 2022 hit God of War Ragnarök just dropped, and it’s aiming to change a couple of things players have been begging for since it first dropped.

“Patch 7” just hit Steam for the PC version of God of War Ragnarök, which is primarily focused on fixing some issues that PC players have been experiencing since the port came out.

Perhaps the most important one is the “improved performance on Intel ARC GPUs.” According to a lot of God of War Ragnarök PC players, the game has performed oddly poorly on Intel ARC GPUs.

In a thread over on the r/IntelArc subreddit, user Raqeeeb stated that God of War Ragnarök performed “really bad” using an Intel ARC GPU prior to the patch and that “even gtx 1660 rtx 3050 performs way better.”

Patch 7 seems to have fixed a majority of these issues however, if a recent video from YouTuber Intel Arc Testing detailing the changes is anything to go by.

The patch also fixed an issue that resulted in “volumetric fog looking blocky when playing in 21:9 or 32:9 aspect ratios”, as well as fixing a bunch of input-related issues that were specific to the PC port of the game.

The patch seems to going down pretty well with the folks on Steam, but that’s nothing new as far as God of War Ragnarök is concerned.

God of War Ragnarök has arguably been one of Sony’s most successful PlayStation ports in recent years, in terms of both sales and player feedback.

The title is currently sitting at a “Very Positive” score on Steam, with over 11,000 reviews as of writing.

Only time will tell if patch 7 manages to push them into “Overwhelming Positive” territory…
