Dancing On Ice winner Sam Aston has revealed a shocking injury hidden from the hit ITV show that left him in so much agony he couldn’t even put his skates on
The 31-year-old, who is best known for playing Chesney Brown on Coronation Street, was crowned winner of the seventeenth series of the skating competition on Sunday night.
Just hours after his huge win, Sam appeared on Lorraine to chat to Lorraine Kelly about his time on the programme.
Throughout his time on show, the soap star managed to swerve any painful injuries on the ice.
But it was actually an accident at home that made him miss a few training sessions because of the pain it caused.
Sam told Lorraine, 65: ‘The worst wasn’t ice skating related.

The 31-year-old was crowned winner of the ITV series alongside his pro partner Molly Lanaghan live on air on Sunday
‘I stubbed my toe on the baby gate, my toe got infected.
‘I couldn’t put my boot on, it wasn’t even on the ice… just dad life!’
Sam and pro partner Molly Lanaghan won the show after narrowly beating Michaela Strachan in what could be the ITV show’s last ever final on Sunday.
Meanwhile Anton Ferdinand and pro Annette Dytrt finished in third place.
Just moments after being crowned winner, speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, Sam said: ‘I’ve literally got no words!’
He added: ‘It’s just been such a journey, and a mad one. And it was always Molly’s dream to be on this show since watching it as a young girl.
‘It has [gone quick] but then you see some of the older clips and it feels like forever ago, I dunno!’.
Michaela added: ‘It’s been an amazing journey and I feel that I’m a winner to get this far with Mark.
‘I’ve done it for the older women!’

Sam has played much-loved character Chesney Brown on the ITV soap Coronation Street since 2003
Sam’s win comes amid mounting rumours that the ITV skating series could face the axe thanks to falling ratings.
Hosted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, Dancing On Ice has haemorrhaged over a million viewers in the last two years, with staff told the ‘tired’ show, which first launched in 2006, is ‘over’.
According to The Sun the series could be rested, before being revamped and relaunched at a later date.
But it’s not the first time the show has been cancelled only to be brought back with a ‘refreshed’ look.
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean announced in 2013 that the ninth series in 2014 would be their last, which sparked rumours the entire show would be panned as a result.
Sam is best known for playing Chesney in the ITV soap and has been a fan favourite since he joined the cast in 2003.
Some of Chesney’s storylines include his friendship with his late dog Schmeichel and becoming a teenage dad.
Sam was revealed as a contestant for this year’s Dancing On Ice back in October 2024.
Speaking on This Morning, he said: ‘I can’t say it was something that I always wanted to do. It came about, and it was just one of them.’
‘The press office mentioned it, we went for a chat and I got a real buzz just going in and experiencing it.’
‘We just went for a chat, they explain how the show works and they stand you on the ice for five or 10 minutes just to get a basic sense of what you’ll be like and that was it really.’
