Coronation Street‘s racy new storyline is reportedly set to take inspiration from Ryan Giggs’ notorious affair with his brother’s wife.

The Manchester United icon tore his relationship with his brother apart over a decade ago, with it revealed in 2011 that he had been having an affair with Rhodri’s wife, Natasha Lever.

The fling sparked a huge fallout between the siblings which continues to rumble on 13 years later, as Rhodri, 47, claimed earlier last year he could ‘bury’ his brother with more revelations concerning the scandal-hit ex-footballer.

And now The Sun reports that Corrie will be basing a new steamy storyline off the scandal.

They claim the plot will see Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) wife cheat on him with his younger brother Carl.

Kevin’s wife Abi (Sally Carman) will grow very close to his half-brother, Carl, in upcoming scenes. He will arrive on the cobbles this spring.

A source told the publication: ‘It’s the ultimate betrayal, sleeping with your husband’s hunky, younger brother but Abi just can’t help herself.

‘Carl arrives in Weatherfield this spring and is going to turn quite a few heads. He’s a good looking ladies man and gets quite a lot of attention. But while he can have any woman he wants – it’s his brother’s wife Abi who he goes after.

‘The pair sleep together and although Abi feels guilty she just can’t help herself. The chemistry between the two is off the scale.’

Corrie have yet to reveal who is playing the role but he has reportedly already started filming with the ITV soap.

ITV has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Natasha and Ryan first started dating secretly in 2003 behind his wife Stacey’s back, which continued while she was pregnant with their two children.

She began dating Rhodri two months after her first encounter with Ryan, but remained close to the Manchester United star, conducting illicit liaisons in hotel rooms and vacant properties she had access to through her job as an estate agent.

Ryan’s wife Stacey, who divorced him in 2017, forgave his initial infidelities, which also included a high-profile fling with Big Brother star Imogen Thomas.

In April 2021, Rhodri made claims that Natasha had flings with 10 footballers.

He also mocked his brother’s affairs in a TV commercial for bookmakers Paddy Power.

Speaking to a The Central Club podcast in January, Rodri said another reason why the brothers fell out was Ryan accused him of selling stories about him.

But Rhodri hit back, saying he could destroy his brother’s reputation for good by revealing sordid details about Ryan, but chose not to.

He said: ‘If I was going to sell some stories I’d have done it last year and buried this p****, buried him.

‘There’s some stories I know that could have buried him, so if I wanted to sell stories I’d do it, but why would I want to do that? Why? I wouldn’t.

‘I’m not that bitter and not that twisted, but he needs to be careful, because I could have. A lot of people could have, but they didn’t, and it’s all from him making the choices he’s made, no one else.

Rhodri continued: ‘You can’t go through life and this nice, innocent family man when you’re banging everything in sight. ‘How old is he, 48, 49? He needs to grow the f**k up.”

Ryan was arrested in November 2020 on suspicion of two counts of assault against former partner Kate Greville and her sister Emma.

He was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm to Greville, as well as coercive and controlling partner against her and common assault against Emma.

The jury was discharged in August 2022, and Giggs was cleared in July 2023 after the Crown Prosecution Service withdrew charges, with Greville unwilling to give evidence in a re-trial.
