Snow White’s domestic box office opening weekend is expected to range from $48 to $58 million.
Despite low expectations, the film may still outperform three other Disney live-action remakes: Dumbo, Cruella, and Mufasa: The Lion King.
The film’s reported budget is between $240 million to $270 million, making its break-even point around $625 million.
It has been less than half a decade since her professional film debut in Hollywood with 2021’s West Side Story, and yet, Rachel Zegler is still managing to leave pretty much everyone baffled. For one, she already has her next big project lined up to make a splash at worldwide box offices soon: Her version of yet another live-action piece on Snow White.

This said film, however, has been gaining a lot of negative fan attention, especially due to the questionable casting choices and the way it was marketed, which had fans confounded about whether it would even be worth watching. But despite all the fan hate, surrounding it, the latest reports believe the film could still outperform 3 other Disney live-action remakes in its opening weekend.
Rachel Zegler’s Snow White might have a better opening weekend than 3 other Disney flicks
Rachel Zegler‘s next big project, Snow White, is all set to make its theatrical debut soon, though its box office projection numbers continue to recede as the film’s release date approaches. A remake of the 1937 Disney musical, which was the first-ever animated feature produced in the United States, it will bring about Zegler as the “fairest of them all” and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

However, such star power barely seems to be doing the film any good. According to The Hollywood Reporter, as of this writing, the said movie’s domestic box office opening weekend is currently expected to range between $48 to $58 million. This is significantly low as compared to the previous long-range projections as of February 7, which were between $63 and $70 million.
At the same time, this upcoming flick from Zegler is still expected to outperform three other live-action remakes from Disney since 2019: Dumbo from 2019, Emma Stone‘s Cruella from 2021, and Mufasa: The Lion King from 2024. This is because all of these mentioned films had their opening weekends ranging from around $21 million to $45 million.
Per Variety, Tim Burton‘s Dumbo opened with a soft $45 million in 2019 from 4,259 North American theaters. Then there was Cruella, which debuted at $21.5 million in 2021, as per Deadline. Last but barely the least was last year’s Mufasa, which opened with a mere $35.4 million in 2024, setting the bar even lower, according to the numbers listed by Collider.
All of this being mentioned, while the upcoming Snow White has some really low expectations amidst all the fan hate surrounding it, it could still make a big enough splash with its domestic opening that could have it rank above these three aforementioned live-action pieces from Disney. But these are only projections, and the real numbers grossed by the film remain to be seen.
Snow White could still earn a major place on 2025’s debut box office list

While the box office predictions for the upcoming Disney film helmed by filmmaker Marc Webb doesn’t really seem to have all that promising domestic box office opening weekend numbers as compared to its reported budget of a whopping $240 million to $270 million (per CBR), the Rachel Zegler led flick could still hold a significant position on 2025’s debut box office list.
For one, while the current reported projections are making it clear that Snow White will continue the dismal trend for Disney’s recent live-action remakes, it could still rank second on the list of the highest-grossing domestic opening weekend films of 2025, next to only Captain America: Brave New World which currently holds the record at just under $90 million (per Collider).
Furthermore, judging from these current projections, the Gadot-starrer has the potential to earn somewhere between $285.9-$500 million worldwide. But this would not even be enough, because the film’s reported budget has placed its break-even point somewhere around $625 million. For now, only time can tell just how successful this upcoming Disney flick will turn out to be.
Snow White is set to hit the screens on March 21.
