Beauty in Black season 2 was pretty much an open secret even ahead of volume 2âs release on Netflix, with filming getting underway on a new batch of episodes in early February 2025. Netflix would then officially confirm the showâs return on March 12, 2025. For those fearing a long wait for new episodes, worry no longer. Netflix and Tyler Perry have confirmed that the show will return this September. Â
Speaking about the renewal at the time, Tyler Perry said, âWe left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and weâre thrilled to continue Kimmieâs journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellaire family. Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I canât wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, youâre not ready for Season 2.â
Now, just months later, Netflix has given a surprise reveal that season 2 of Beauty in Black will debut this September with a fresh new teaser trailer:
The new trailer comes with the accompanying message, teasing what to expect when we return: âTyler Perryâs smash hit returns to Netflix with higher stakes, more drama, and a new H.B.I.C. (and the B is for Bellarie). Put some respect on her name and trust no one when season 2 premieres on Netflix September 11.â
Beauty in Black launched with strong viewership when part 1 debuted on October 24, 2024, spending four weeks in the top 10 and garnering 20.8 million views. Volume 2 wasnât quite as strong, dropping to 3.8M views in its opening week compared to 5.6M for volume 1.
Donât forget this is just one upcoming Tyler Perry project still to come in 2025 and beyond, with even more on the way. Ruth & Boaz, previously known as R&B, is scheduled to drop sometime in late 2025 on Netflix. Thatâs a faith-based feature film produced by Tyler Perry. Elsewhere, She The People, which got off to a slow start in the Netflix top 10s, returns for its second batch of episodes on August 14th. Also coming up is Doing Life, a new drama starring Naomi Baker and Jay Reeves, and weâve even been told thereâs another Madea movie on the way beyond Destination Wedding, so stay tuned.
All of this is in addition to Straw, the hit movie of the Summer, which, as of the time of writing, has spent four weeks in the top 10, garnering 102 million views, thanks in part to the movie going viral on TikTok.
Here are a few more first-look photos that just dropped for season 2 of Beauty in Black, which confirm there will be at least eight episodes in the new season:
