The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4’s New Cast Member Sparks a Perfect How I Met Your Mother Reunion — 11 Years After the Finale
Fans of both shows are in for a nostalgic treat as this unexpected casting brings two beloved sitcom stars back together in a legal twist no one saw coming

Smulders isn’t the only name joining The Lincoln Lawyer season 4’s cast, with newcomers also including Constance Zimmer and Sasha Alexander in important roles. As for the story, Mickey is set to face his biggest challenge yet after being accused of murder following season 3’s cliffhanger ending. The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 is based on The Law of Innocence, the sixth book in Michael Connelly’s series that inspired the Netflix show. As the new season nears, the cast list keeps getting better and better.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4’s Becki Newton & Cobie Smulders Previously Starred Together In How I Met Your Mother
Newton & Smulders Worked Together On HIMYM For Two Seasons

Now that Cobie Smulders has joined The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, she won’t be the only cast member on the Netflix show with ties to How I Met Your Mother. Becki Newton, who currently plays Lorna Crane in the Netflix show, previously portrayed Quinn Garvey in How I Met Your Mother seasons 7 and 8. The character was engaged to Neil Patrick Harris’ Barney for a brief time before the pair realized they couldn’t trust each other, with some of that distrust stemming from Barney’s past relationship with Robin.
With Lorna continuing to be a vital member of the team, going from a legal aide to a lawyer, if Smulders is involved at all in Mickey’s case, she will likely cross paths with Lorna. Based on The Lincoln Lawyer season 3’s ending, Mickey needs all the help he can get, so Lorna will hopefully get more time to shine after becoming a lawyer. Whatever’s in store, it would be a treat for HIMYM fans to see Smulders and Newton work together again in a completely different setting.
Cobie Smulders Recently Had Another How I Met Your Mother Reunion In A New TV Show
Smulders Has A History Of Reuniting With Former HIMYM Cast Members

Even without specific character details, it’s exciting to see Smulders’ HIMYM reunion trend continuing with The Lincoln Lawyer season 4.
The reunion between Smulders and Segel in Shrinking was brief, but the encounter left the possibility of a bigger storyline involving the two down the line. Even though How I Met Your Mother ended over a decade ago, it’s great to see actors from the show still appearing in highly popular projects. Smulders reprised her role as Robin for the HIMYM spinoff, How I Met Your Father, and she clearly remains connected to the original show with the ongoing relationships with her former co-stars.
Aside from Shrinking, Smulders also had a recurring role in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, which starred Neil Patrick Harris. Shortly after, she worked on Friends from College, a comedy that featured HIMYM vet Sarah Chalke in season 2. Even without specific character details, it’s exciting to see Smulders’ HIMYM reunion trend continuing with The Lincoln Lawyer season 4.a
