With the project already given the green light for a third chapter, and previous rumblings about a spin-off, audiences have been eager for any updates about what that offshoot could look like. After all, with characters like Fred Armisen’s Uncle Fester and the couple who started it all — Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia and Luis Guzmán’s Gomez Addams — milling about in the background, there are plenty of avenues left open to explore.
However, during a recent chat with Collider’s Steve Weintraub for Wednesday Season 2, showrunners and series creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, revealed that they’re rather content about fully immersing themselves in the world of Wednesday and the Nevermore Academy — at least for now. According to Gough:
“It’s not a priority at the moment because, as we just said, it’s how do we get Wednesday back faster than we did in Season 2? So, we kind of went right from finishing Season 2 to jumping right into developing Season 3. So, it’s sort of all Wednesday all the time at the moment.”
Gough’s words will come as music to the ears of fans who aren’t super-keen about waiting another three years for the next batch of episodes to roll out. And yet, those who were looking forward to more to come from the altogether ooky family who have captured the love of audiences for decades might feel a bit let down by the news that a Wednesday spin-off won’t be in the immediate future — but there’s always more time.
‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Is Still Under Construction

With just a few days until the first part of Wednesday’s second season haunts its way onto Netflix, Millar and Gough admitted they were still busy putting the final pieces into place, with the former revealing:
“It’s definitely an all-encompassing show. We’re still doing post on Season 2. We’re doing mixes and color timings and all those sort of different things you do to finish shows while still being in the writers’ room. And that’s how it should be. This show has been an amazing gift to us, and we really want to honor the fans and make sure that we deliver the best show that they deserve after a three-year wait.”
The first four episodes of Wednesday’s second season will arrive on Netflix on August 6, with four more episodes to follow and round out the installment on September 3.
