Dwayne Johnson was accused of turning up hours late for his main event match at WWE’s WrestleMania XL
World Wrestling Entertainment has addressed allegations which have arisen about Dwayne Johnson surrounding his behavior on set.
Last week, accusations arose against Johnson – a.k.a. The Rock – ahead of the release of Christmas action-adventure comedy Red One.
The Wrap reported ‘more than a dozen insiders directly involved’ in the film had come forward to claim Johnson was guilty of ‘chronic lateness’ while shooting and had a ‘lack of professionalism on set’.
Some insiders even accused the actor of turning up ‘as much as eight hours late’ and crew were ‘forced’ to ‘shoot around him on some days’ which allegedly led to the actor causing ‘at least’ $50 million of costs.
Oh, and another accused him of a pretty disgusting habit to allegedly save time on set.
The report also brought Johnson’s behavior on set of his wrestling endeavors into question, with The Rock allegedly turning up three hours late for his main event match at WWE’s WrestleMania XL – which took place across the weekend of 6 and 7 April at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
WWE has since spoken out about the allegations the Rock is facing.
Chris Legentil, Head of WWE’s Global Communications and Talent Relations, told The Wrap: “Dwayne was not only on time for WrestleMania, he was hours early to help with rehearsal and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire run.”
WWE has responded to the allegations against Dwayne Johnson about his alleged behavior on set.
A spokesperson for the studio behind Red One – Amazon MGM – also quickly squashed the rumors about the performer’s etiquette, telling The Wrap Johnson and Seven Bucks ‘have been incredible partners on Red One – a film that audiences of all ages are going to love this holiday season’.
They continued: “Our testing has been very strong – the reaction from CinemaCon speaks for itself – and we couldn’t have made it without Dwayne’s constant work and support.
“Any reporting that implies that we got to this point with him showing up seven-eight hours late to set is both ridiculous and false.”
Johnson has yet to publicly address the claims brought against him in the article, however, yesterday (1 May) he did take to Instagram to share a series of photographs of him at Wrestle Mania.
The caption reads: “Walk thru. Love and appreciate all the support.”
