Fans are absolutely devastated by Killers of the Flower Moon’s unfortunate 0/10 score at the 2024 Oscars.

The 2024 Oscars are done and dusted, leaving us with the winners for this year. While few lucky ones will be able to call the night a success thanks to their victories, many others walked out of the event empty-handed and with aching hearts. Oppenheimer won big at the award ceremony, taking home several prestigious awards, including Best Picture. However, Oppenheimer’s victory comes at the expense of another incredible film, Killers of the Flower Moon.

Killers of the Flower Moon was nominated in ten categories at the Oscars, but luck was not on its side as the film didn’t win a single award. Needless to say, fans are extremely disappointed with the outcome as they believe the film deserved to emerge victorious, at least in a couple of categories, especially Best Actress.

Upon its release, Killers of the Flower Moon received critical acclaim for its direction, screenplay, cinematography, acting, and so much more. Viewers knew instantly that the film was total Oscar material. Thus, it came as no surprise when it was nominated for the 96th Academy Awards. In fact, the film was nominated in ten whole categories including Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role (Lily Gladstone), Directing (Martin Scorsese), Actor in a Supporting Role (Robert De Niro), and more.

Unfortunately, Killers of the Flower Moon was unable to win a single award at the ceremony, leaving fans absolutely enraged. While everyone already knew that Oppenheimer was going to be the boss at the Oscars, fans hoped that Killers of the Flower Moon, too, would end up with a couple awards.

Fans were especially rooting for Gladstone to lift the Best Actress award for her role as Mollie Burkhart, but she was defeated by Emma Stone, who won for her work in Poor Things. This win would’ve marked Gladstone’s first Oscar win, but alas, the actress will have to try her luck next time.

Based on a true story, Killers of the Flower Moon is set in the 1920s and follows the murders of Osage members. The film was so well-received by both fans and critics that it flaunts a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience score of 84%. Critical consensus even deemed it as a “yet another artistic zenith” for Scorsese.

After being nominated for ten Oscar categories, the odds were clearly in the film’s favor, but everyone was left absolutely shocked when Killers of the Flower Moon returned home empty-handed.

Looking at the reactions, it goes without saying that Killers of the Flower Moon’s loss will not be forgotten for many years to come.
