Landmanâs Jacob Lofland Teases How Season 2 Has âSurprisesâ No One âSees Comingâ After Past Onscreen Deaths (Exclusive)
Landman viewers are in for some shocking onscreen twists in season 2 after the show previously introduced some surprise onscreen deaths.
Jacob Lofland exclusively told Us Weekly what fans can expect, saying, âThereâs definitely some twists, turns and surprises that are coming in the next episodes. Thereâs a few things that I donât think anyone sees coming. I definitely didnât.â
He continued: âThereâs some awesome surprises â good and bad â but itâs all going to work out.â
Landman, which premiered in 2024, follows the world of oilfields in West Texas. The hit Paramount+ series introduced Billy Bob Thornton as the corporate fixer working for an oil titan (Jon Hamm) while building up to its promise of plot twists. The season finale killed off Hammâs Monty while Tommy was named the president of M-Tex before getting kidnapped â and severely beaten â by a drug cartel leader. Tommy is eventually released with the promise that he will work with the cartel.
Season 2 raised the stakes by shaking up the narrative with Demi Mooreâs Cami added into the mix more. Elsewhere in the show, Ali Larterâs Angela, Loflandâs Cooper, Michelle Randolphâs Ainsley and more are at the center of their own drama.
âThatâs one thing about a Taylor [Sheridan] show. When things are going too smooth, thereâs usually something coming,â Lofland, 29, teased to Us. âSo far, itâs going great. Like I said, theyâre navigating it well. Weâll just see how it goes. I think everyoneâs going to be excited to watch the rest of the season.â
Going into season 2, Lofland had no idea what to expect for Cooperâs journey â professionally and personally.
âWe had all 10 scripts and we basically shot a 10-hour movie knowing where we began and where we left off. Whenever we started season 2, we started with two scripts and then they came out as normal TV does. So we were learning just as just as the audience is right now â week to week â we would figure out where weâre going next,â he recalled. âIt definitely got its challenges when you get a script on a Friday and you start shooting that script Monday.â
Lofland also weighed in on Cooperâs possible engagement to girlfriend Ariana (Paulina Chavez).
â[Itâs] for the audience to make their own conclusion on [whether they are moving too fast]. Everyone has got their own opinion,â Lofland noted. âBut the thing is, in the life of these characters, no one else is living it. Itâs them.â
Lofland noted that only Cooper and Ariana know what is best for them.
âIt could be two weeks and it could be two months. Iâve heard plenty of people that have been married for 30 years that didnât date for six weeks,â he said. âIâve also heard, people that dated for seven years get married and itâs done in three months.â
He concluded: âTheyâre a really strong couple and they can be stronger and theyâre learning each other. This is Cooperâs first real relationship in his life. So itâs taken a little while to figure out how to navigate it. Heâs never been in this situation â especially with the pressure from working and in trying to start his own company.â
New episodes of Landman season 2 premiere via Paramount+ every Sunday.
