Jacob Lofland just teased that the new season is packed with SHOCKING SURPRISES no one sees coming — especially after those brutal on-screen deaths fans are still recovering from.

Landman’s Jacob Lofland Teases How Season 2 Has ‘Surprises’ No One ‘Sees Coming’ After Past Onscreen Deaths (Exclusive)
Landman viewers are in for some shocking onscreen twists in season 2 after the show previously introduced some surprise onscreen deaths.
Jacob Lofland exclusively told Us Weekly what fans can expect, saying, “There’s definitely some twists, turns and surprises that are coming in the next episodes. There’s a few things that I don’t think anyone sees coming. I definitely didn’t.”
He continued: “There’s some awesome surprises — good and bad — but it’s all going to work out.”
Landman, which premiered in 2024, follows the world of oilfields in West Texas. The hit Paramount+ series introduced Billy Bob Thornton as the corporate fixer working for an oil titan (Jon Hamm) while building up to its promise of plot twists. The season finale killed off Hamm’s Monty while Tommy was named the president of M-Tex before getting kidnapped — and severely beaten — by a drug cartel leader. Tommy is eventually released with the promise that he will work with the cartel.
Season 2 raised the stakes by shaking up the narrative with Demi Moore‘s Cami added into the mix more. Elsewhere in the show, Ali Larter‘s Angela, Lofland’s Cooper, Michelle Randolph‘s Ainsley and more are at the center of their own drama.
“That’s one thing about a Taylor [Sheridan] show. When things are going too smooth, there’s usually something coming,” Lofland, 29, teased to Us. “So far, it’s going great. Like I said, they’re navigating it well. We’ll just see how it goes. I think everyone’s going to be excited to watch the rest of the season.”
Going into season 2, Lofland had no idea what to expect for Cooper’s journey — professionally and personally.
“We had all 10 scripts and we basically shot a 10-hour movie knowing where we began and where we left off. Whenever we started season 2, we started with two scripts and then they came out as normal TV does. So we were learning just as just as the audience is right now — week to week — we would figure out where we’re going next,” he recalled. “It definitely got its challenges when you get a script on a Friday and you start shooting that script Monday.”
Lofland also weighed in on Cooper’s possible engagement to girlfriend Ariana (Paulina Chavez).
“[It’s] for the audience to make their own conclusion on [whether they are moving too fast]. Everyone has got their own opinion,” Lofland noted. “But the thing is, in the life of these characters, no one else is living it. It’s them.”
Lofland noted that only Cooper and Ariana know what is best for them.
“It could be two weeks and it could be two months. I’ve heard plenty of people that have been married for 30 years that didn’t date for six weeks,” he said. “I’ve also heard, people that dated for seven years get married and it’s done in three months.”
He concluded: “They’re a really strong couple and they can be stronger and they’re learning each other. This is Cooper’s first real relationship in his life. So it’s taken a little while to figure out how to navigate it. He’s never been in this situation — especially with the pressure from working and in trying to start his own company.”
New episodes of Landman season 2 premiere via Paramount+ every Sunday.
