A Western lauded as “the most unique film” is essential viewing for Yellowstone fans.

The thriller Devil in the Dust was released in 2025 and is currently available to stream on Paramount+, reports the Express.

Devil in the Dust — also known as Killing Faith — is set during the 1800s in the Arizona Territory and centres on a widowed doctor (portrayed by Guy Pearce), who is entrusted with escorting a former slave, Sarah (DeWanda Wise), and her daughter (Emily Katherine Ford) to a faith healer through treacherous terrain.

The three embark on a perilous four-day journey across the lawless West.

Along the way, they encounter strange happenings, inexplicable phenomena and violent pursuers hunting them down, convinced that Sarah’s child is cursed and brings death to all she touches.

Despite everything, Sarah is determined to rescue her daughter, who she believes is being consumed by a sinister and mysterious force.

The film also features The Sinner actor Bill Pullman, Dutton Ranch and Untamed star Raoul Max Trujillo, Jack Alcott from Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Resurrection, Six Feet Under and NCIS: New Orleans actress Joanna Cassidy, and Josh McDermitt of The Walking Dead fame.

Audiences have previously heaped praise on Devil in the Dust via Rotten Tomatoes, with one reviewer awarding it five stars and writing: “Very enjoyable film with great performances.”

A second remarked: “This film was a unique western probably not too uncommon back in those days because people were not very educated and very gullible.”

They continued: “That’s all I’m gonna say about this movie other than I really did like it and if you like westerns you’re going to really like this one the acting was really good and special effects were decent.”

A third viewer remarked: “Not the first Southern Gothic/Western fusion by a long shot, but a strong contender for the best to date. Acting, cast, cinematography, characters and story are all outstanding.”
