Postcode Wars Tragedy in Melbourne: Identity of 15-Year-Old Schoolboy Stabbed to Death and Suspects Apprehended Revealed

A bloody surge of violence believed to stem from regional gang conflicts, known as postcode wars, in suburban Melbourne has claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy, leaving his family and the community in a state of profound shock and grief. The victim was severely injured and left directly outside a community medical center. Despite the medical staff’s utmost efforts to save him, he succumbed to his wounds. Shortly thereafter, Victoria Police swiftly intervened, established a crime scene, and launched a series of arrests targeting multiple suspects directly linked to the case.
A Tragic Death Outside a Medical Center
The heartbreaking incident unfolded at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, in the car park outside the Craigieburn Community Hospital located on Lygon Drive in Melbourne’s north. A medical clinic staff member discovered the teenage boy slumped on the ground with severe stab wounds across his body and immediately rushed out to administer CPR. However, due to the critical nature of the injuries and massive blood loss, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later formally identified the ill-fated victim as 15-year-old Darweish Mohamed, a resident of Mickleham and a student at Mount Ridley College.
The sudden passing of Darweish has sent a massive shockwave through students, teachers, and local residents. At the site where he collapsed, bouquets of white and yellow flowers alongside framed photographs have been placed on a bench by loved ones and friends to honor his memory. Notably, a poignant message left with a floral arrangement highlighted a brutal reality, asking when these postcode wars would finally end and noting that another innocent life was gone too soon.
The Net Tightens: Identities of Captured Suspects

The Homicide Squad of Victoria Police deployed a rigorous tracking operation overnight.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, just hours after the attack, detectives ambushed and apprehended the first two suspects in the neighboring suburb of Pascoe Vale. Continued investigations late Thursday into Friday morning, July 3, led to the arrest of two additional individuals. The identities and specific charges leveled against the suspects include the following individuals.
A 16-year-old teenager from the Goulburn Valley region has been officially charged by police with murder. The suspect has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Children’s Court at a later date. Due to legal regulations protecting minors, the specific name of this suspect cannot be publicly released by the media.

A 20-year-old man from Beveridge was accused of being an accomplice and has been charged with criminal damage by fire. Police suspect this individual is linked to a completely burnt-out car found in Oaklands Junction, which was allegedly destroyed to eliminate physical evidence of the crime. The suspect was granted bail and is ordered to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on December 1.
A 15-year-old girl from the Fawkner area was arrested late Thursday night. She has been charged with affray and theft of a motor vehicle and is currently on bail awaiting her appearance in the Children’s Court.
A fourth suspect, another 15-year-old boy residing in Craigieburn, was intercepted and arrested by police on Friday morning and is undergoing rigorous interrogation to clarify his role in the incident.
The Grief of Those Left Behind

While detectives and forensic teams continue door-to-door inquiries around the scene to gather surveillance footage and witness statements, Darweish’s family is enduring their darkest days.
To alleviate some of the financial burden on the family, a relative named Mohamed Bakhit established a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral costs. On the fundraising page, he expressed with a heavy heart the pain of losing their beloved brother, noting that no family should ever have to go through such immense loss. Within a short period, the campaign received an overwhelming response from the community, raising over $37,000 AUD toward a $60,000 AUD goal to help arrange a proper farewell for the tragic student.
