The Rings Of Power Season 2 Will Struggle To Match 1 Iconic Moment From Peter Jackson’s Trilogy

Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins and Morfydd Clark as Galadriel in the LOTR and The Rings of PowerThe Rings of Power season 2 will show a new side of Galadriel, but the Prime Video series will struggle to match one iconic moment from Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. Galadriel sets out to find Sauron and stop him from rising to power in The Rings of Power season 1. However, she inadvertently brings him closer to his goals. Halbrand’s betrayal hits Galadriel hard at the end of The Rings of Power season 1, and she’ll no doubt double down on her efforts to stop him in season 2.

Galadriel’s reasons for hunting Sauron will be even more personal in The Rings of Power season 2, and that could lead to questionable choices on her part. Executive producer Lindsey Weber told Empire Magazine that Galadriel will wear her Ring of Power in season 2. We’ve seen how this can corrupt someone. Weber also revealed that season 2 will show a “different side” of Galadriel — something that could explain how she becomes the character we meet in J.R.R. Tolkien’s books. But even if The Rings of Power makes Galadriel darker, it may not top one great LOTR movie moment.

The Rings Of Power Season 2’s Ring-Wearing Galadriel Can’t Match The Movies’ Scary Scene

Cate Blanchett’s Scene Iconic Even With Outdated CG

Galadriel may be corrupted by her ring in The Rings of Power season 2, but it’s unlikely this development will match her scariest scene from The Lord of the Rings movies. Frodo Baggins meets a much older version of Galadriel in The Fellowship of the Ring, and he sees firsthand how the Rings of Power affect her. Cate Blanchett’s iteration of the character shows Frodo worrisome visions. She’s then consumed by a dark lust for power when she comes too close to the One Ring.

Galadriel may be corrupted by her ring in The Rings of Power season 2, but it’s unlikely this development will match her scariest scene from The Lord of the Rings movies.

Blanchett’s performance makes this a standout moment from Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, even if the CG hasn’t aged spectacularly. It leaves an impression of Galadriel, even though she doesn’t appear much during Frodo’s journey. This scene is iconic, so it’ll be hard to top it in The Rings of Power season 2. Even though Galadriel’s journey will set the stage for who she becomes in the Third Age, she’s got a long way to go before she gets there — and Morfydd Clark has big shoes to fill.

The Rings Of Power Must Still Show A Darker Side To Galadriel In Season 2

Even if Galadriel’s characterization in The Rings of Power season 2 fails to live up to her iconic Lord of the Rings scene, the Prime Video series must show a darker side of her character. After everything she’s been through, it makes sense for Galadriel to change. And the Rings of Power’s influence on her should be explored, especially since we know how they affect her.

This is also how the Prime Video series can set up what she becomes. It’s necessary to depict this part of her character, but it remains to be seen if The Rings of Power can live up to — or surpass — The Lord of the Rings moviesDoing so will be difficult, but perhaps the series will surprise us.
