Monica from Love Is Blind has finally exposed what was in the explicit text messages Stephen was sending to another woman during the eighth episode of season seven. Sitting down with Entertainment Weekly, Monica opened up about that crazy night and what happened when she opened the messages.

When we first saw the scene play out, it felt like a huge chunk of information was missing: Monica wasn’t crying, Taylor and Garrett were at their apartment, and Stephen’s bags were packed. That’s because the camera crew only arrived after the revelation had been made, and Monica found the texts all on her own.

What really went down that night?

“I discovered the texts just by total coincidence,” Monica explained. “We were in our apartment that day, and in the morning, Taylor and Garrett had sent all of the couples a text that said, ‘We’re going to be baking fall goods for everyone, and we’re going to drop them off later tonight.’” Stephen headed into the bathroom before they arrived, and his phone that he’d left on the table lit up.

Monica said that she and Stephen had an amazing few days together before she found the messages, so she “didn’t even think twice” about picking up his phone – she assumed it would be Garrett letting him know they were outside with the goodies.

“When I went to click on Garrett’s text, I was in his text messages, and there was one at the top right under Garrett that was a girl’s name, and I could see some writing, and it was just … yeah,” Monica revealed. “It was such a quick decision, but I was like, ‘push,’ and yeah, I saw a bunch of texts.”

This was an immediate red flag for her and she described going into “detective mode” to dissect all of the messages he’d sent to the woman. This is where she found the explicit texts.

She told Entertainment Weekly that she scrolled right to the top of the chat to see when they started texting, and it was “some time ago, certainly before he left” to do the show. After, when she was explaining her findings to Taylor, she “couldn’t even remember the girl’s name,” but did remember the sexual nature of the messages, including one that said: “No one’s ever been able to satisfy my kinks the way you do.”

To her, the revelation was a “dagger to the chest.” She revealed that she didn’t know a lot about the woman, and that Stephen was reluctant to tell her much, but she did say that “there was definitely a history there, for sure.”

Monica also wanted to make sure their breakup was filmed, because she didn’t want Stephen to be able to act like it never happened. “I just knew in that moment I was so disgusted and shocked that I needed him to be away from me,” she pressed.

Is there a future for Monica and Stephen?

I really hope the answer is no, but Monica seems to be pretty cryptic about their future: “There’s more to come with regards to what’s happened between Stephen and I since then, but I will say in that moment, the experiment really worked for me, going through this process and really falling deeply, madly in love and figuring out if I was going to go to the altar in a matter of weeks. And I certainly am so grateful that I didn’t go a day further, let alone a couple weeks further, so I think everything happened exactly the way it had to happen.” The plot thickens!
