Stranger Things Season 5 is halfway through filming.
Stranger Things co-creator Ross Duffer shared an Instagram post announcing that the final season of the popular Netflix series was now halfway through production. “Week 24. Happy halfway to the best cast and crew ever,” Duffer wrote.
Should production continue without any kind of significant delays, this means that Stranger Things Season 5 should be finished filming around mid-December.

What do we know about Stranger Things Season 5?
While production was delayed because of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) 2023 strikes, filming for Stranger Things Season 5 began in January 2024.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Sadie Sink as May Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, and Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna.
The Terminator’s Linda Hamilton is also playing an undisclosed character.
Plot details remain under wraps at this time. The final season of the series will consist of eight episodes, the first of which is titled “Chapter One: The Crawl.”
Hawke recently told Podcrushed (via Deadline) that Stranger Things Season 5’s episodes will all be “very long” and that they’re “making, basically, eight movies.”
A release date for Stranger Things Season 5 has not yet been announced, though it’s expected to premiere sometime in 2025. The first four seasons of Stranger Things, meanwhile, are currently available to watch on Netflix.
