The plot of Gladiator 2 is only tangentially connected to the original movie. It seems more like a stealth remake than a straightforward sequel, as it’s telling a very similar story to the original: a vengeful man is sold into slavery, works his way through the ranks of the gladiator circuit, and prepares to exact revenge on the powerful figures who wronged him. But since Gladiator 2 features some returning characters from the first one — including Connie Nielsen’s Lucilla — it wouldn’t be a bad idea to watch the original before the sequel comes out.
Gladiator Is Streaming On Paramount+
Revisiting Gladiator Is Easy Enough For Paramount+ Subscribers
