A blended image of Mickey's arrest in The Lincoln LawyerThe Lincoln Lawyer co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez has explained how Mickey Haller’s arrest at the end of season 3 is going to impact season 4. The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 ended with Mickey (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) successfully exonerating Julian La Cosse (Devon Graye) of accusations that he killed Gloria Dayton (Fiona Rene). He also managed to sue the city for injuries Julian sustained in a prison assassination attempt. While driving home after celebrating with his team, he’s pulled over by a police officer, who arrests him after discovering the body of Sam Scales (Christopher Thornton) in his trunk.

Speaking with Screen Rant about the show, Rodriguez explained how Mickey’s arrest will lead into The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, is expected to adapt The Law of Innocence from the book series by Michael Connelly. The co-showrunner also teased Lorna (Becki Newton) will be his partner in defending him, with her taking a major spotlight as she tries to help her boss while also keeping their law practice alive. Check out what Rodriguez had to say below:

Yeah, I think that’s the big thing. You saw how we end the season with Mickey. Mickey’s going to be accused of murder, and everybody seems really excited about this. So, season 4 is The Law of Innocence, and she’s his partner. This is the most stressful, biggest case of all their lives, and she’s a green lawyer. It’s just her figuring out how much she can take on, what place she has in the role of co-counseling with him, and also keeping the business afloat while he can’t take any other clients in jail.

I think that you’re going to see a Lorna who has a lot of balls in the air, trying her best to keep all of those balls in the air and be successful at it. I think that’s where we’re going with her.

Although The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 hasn’t been confirmed by Netflix yet as of writing, Rodriguez has a clear plan in place for how the show is going to evolve. Lorna’s inclusion makes sense, given season 3 focused on her passing the California Bar Exam and becoming a defense attorney alongside Mickey during Julian’s case. She’s proven herself to be incredibly resourceful in that regard too, citing law with near-photographic memory and using it to advance their case. This makes her the perfect defense for the show’s lead following his arrest.

This change in focus means more development for Lorna going forward, alongside everyone else on Mickey’s team as they try operating his legal practice without him. While they’ll be trying to keep the lights on, the titular protagonist will also need to find a way to defend himself from the inside, no doubt assisting his colleague in getting him out of the false murder charges. While it’s unclear how deep the conspiracy surrounding his arrest is going to be, The Lincoln Lawyer‘s characters will have plenty of ways to get their boss out from his life-threatening predicament.
