Josh Brolin, known for his role as Thanos in the MCU’s Infinity Saga, recently hinted at the possibility of reprising his iconic role.
While chatting with Collider, Brolin expressed his willingness to return as the Mad Titan, emphasizing the importance of the right circumstances and the involvement of Joe and Anthony Russo.
‘I’m not kidding — There’s a thing with playing Thanos. It’s like, ‘Oh, they’re gonna bring Thanos back.’ It’s like Sicario; it has to be right. It’s like Ryan Reynolds and I talking about Taylor Swift and we should be talking about Deadpool 4. But we go back and forth.
Again, it’s what in his mind fits, what in my mind fits. Thanos has to fit if you’re going to bring him back. I would do anything that the Russos wanted me to do,’ Brolin shared.
When asked about any ongoing discussions with Marvel, Brolin cleverly dodged the question with a cough, leaving fans to speculate on what might be in store.
In the narrative of ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ the potential for Thanos to clash with Doctor Doom, now played by Robert Downey Jr., looms large. This intriguing setup could lead to a dramatic showdown over control of Battleworld, reminiscent of their comic book encounters.
The Russo brothers, who have directed several acclaimed MCU films, including ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ are set to return for the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
‘Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou, and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves,’ the Russos commented after the SDCC panel.
As anticipation builds, the cinematic journey will continue with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ releasing on May 1, 2026, followed by ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ on May 7, 2027. Fans are eager to see how these new installments will reshape the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
