Reddit user fe2sio4 shared a video of their young nephew absolutely destroying Erlang on his “first try” after OP admitted to being stuck on the boss for days. In the 30-second clip, the young boy, who doesn’t look to be older than 10, quickly depletes the final quarter of the boss’s health using the Plantain Fan vessel and some pro-gamer moves.
As pointed out by users in the comments of OP’s post, the kid is using some serious pro-gamer moves, like the butterfly click, to take on the boss. By fluttering his first two fingers, he was able to do a flurry of light attacks to immobilize Erlang in between the damage done to the boss’s shield by the Plantain Fan. At the end of the short clip, the kid calmly stands up and shrugs his shoulders, saying, “Alright, he’s dead,” as though it was no big deal.
Defeating Erlang Is Needed To Get The True Ending To Black Myth: Wukong
OP’s Nephew Used Some Well-Known Strategies To Defeat The Optional Boss
Though defeating Erlang is optional in Black Myth: Wukong, those who want to unlock the game’s true ending will need to best him. Once he’s been felled, Erlang, the Sacred Divinity will transform into Erlang Shen, allowing for the Destined One to face off against the Four Heavenly Kings – and then himself once again.
In addition to the Plantain Fan, the Golden Set armor set OP’s nephew used to bolster his character is a common strategy. The full set offers some pretty serious defense, as well as a little bit of chill resistance. The Golden Mask of Fury grants a significant amount of focus with successful Spirit skill hits, and the whole set increases attack after using a Vessel and grants Qi for critical hits. This combination is a game-changer for those still struggling with the boss fight.
Though defeating Erlang isn’t necessary to reach the end of Black Myth: Wukong, it’s a difficult but important undertaking for those looking to reach the title’s true ending. Though this young man makes the fight with Erlang look easy by defeating him at level 80, those still struggling can utilize his build and strategy to help turn the tides during their next attempt at the battle.
