Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey shared a hilarious standoff with former NFL player Charles Woodson ahead of Texas’ clash with Michigan on Saturday.

McConaughey and Woodson came face to face in front of 100,000-plus fans in he Big House – just minutes before the first ever regular season meeting between the two college football powerhouses.

McConaughey is a Longhorns super fan who is regularly seen on the sidelines supporting Steve Sarkisian’s team.

Woodson, meanwhile, spent three years with Michigan between 1995 and 1997. He was then a fourth overall pick in the 1998 draft before enjoying an 18-season career in the NFL.

On Saturday, shortly before kickoff, McConaughey stood on the field holding a burnt orange Texas flag.

Woodson, who was on the FOX Sports coverage, soon stood opposite him holding a giant blue Michigan flag.

‘Come on, baby, here we go… let’s do it!’ Woodson shouted in the face of McConaughey.

‘Don’t make me chase you,’ the film star responded. ‘I know you’re fast!’ Woodson then sprinted around the field, waving his flag as the Michigan players emerged from the tunnel.

‘I love college football,’ one fan wrote on social media, while another joked they would put their dollars on McConaughey. ‘That was awesome to watch,’ a third said.

This meeting between the No 3 Longhorns and No 1 Wolverines was the curtain raiser of week two of the college football season.

It was just the second ever meeting between the two giants, 20 years after they first collided in the Rose Bowl following the 2004 season.
