Most of the time, Rockstar Games manages to keep its fans happy. Unfortunately, not this time around.
The latest Red Dead Redemption 2 online DLC has been met with harsh criticism. Once you see what’s included, you’ll likely be joining the fans in asking what the heck is going on here.
November’s Red Dead Online experience was a lot more impressive, which further compounds the issue when gamers can’t help but compare it to this month.
Responses range from mild annoyance to expletives.
“Kinda lacklustre month bonus-wise,” lamented piangero.
In contrast to their tame reply, Redditor owa_owa_rdo asked, “Wtf even is this R*?”
It’s not all bad news in Red Dead Redemption 2 – there’s funny wins as well!
But should any of us be surprised by this latest expansion?
After all, it seems to align with Rockstar Games’ usual pattern of one brilliant month followed by a bad month, so says BikkyBandit.
“I don’t mean to seem ungrateful, but this month blows in comparison,” commented one polite soul. “The 40 percent off revolvers and ammo pamphlets is nice but the rest seems a bit lackluster imo.”
Here’s a closer look at the breakdown of what events are taking place between 3 December and 7 January in Red Dead Online:

December 10 – January 6
Log in to receive the Winter Evans Repeater Variant, plus Rank Lock is lifted on the Krampus Shotgun

Even when you add in the discounts and bonuses, it doesn’t quite manage to save this DLC from being disappointing.
Still, you can’t win them all.
