During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight promoting Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Ortega teased Wednesday season 2’s “bigger” episodes in an exciting filming update. The star confirmed they have “officially finished four episodes,” meaning that season 2 is halfway done with filming. Check out her full comments below:
It’s nice to see everyone again but also we’re like knee-deep in that. We officially finished four episodes and everything is going well so far. We’re sticking to our roots but it’s become much bigger and a lot more fleshed out and characters have really incredible arcs and we have incredible set pieces and storylines. It just feels a lot more exciting from the jump.
Wednesday Season 2’s “Bigger” Episodes Explained
What The Second Season Has In Store
Wednesday season 2 story details are scarce, other than the fact that it will continue to follow the supernatural mysteries of Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy. However, Ortega’s tease provides some hints as to what will be in store for the second season. For starters, the star suggests that season 2’s episodes will be “bigger,” suggesting an increased scope and scale for when the show returns for its second season. This is in addition to new character arcs, such as a possible romance between Wednesday and Xavier Thorpe, as hinted at by season 1.
Wednesday season 1’s ending suggested that the titular character has a new sinister stalker, setting the stage for a new adversary in season 2, and implying that Joseph Crackstone’s plan to eliminate outcasts is far from over. Furthermore, the final moments of season 1 reveal that Tyler can still transform into a Hyde, hinting at his return for revenge in the next season. Ortega has also teased that season 2 will delve deeper into the supernatural, suggesting that Wednesday will face even more formidable creatures.
Wednesday season 2 will also be much bigger in terms of its cast. Some new additions include Joanna Lumley as Grandma Addams, Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn, and Billie Piper as Capri. Other newcomers include Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment, and Heather Matarazzo, whose roles have not yet been revealed. With an increased focus on the supernatural, combined with an expanded cast, Wednesday season 2 should have no problem delivering on Ortega’s promise of “bigger” episodes.
