Sucker Punch shared on X, “We are thrilled that Atsu is played by the amazing Erika Ishii!”

Ishii is an radical activist, who claims in her X bio that she uses “all pronouns.”

Furthermore, Ishii is activist that supports body mutilation. In June she encouraged her followers on X to support ForTheGworls that targets black individuals to encourage them to butcher themselves.

She wrote on X, “Non-Black folks looking to observe Juneteenth: Black nonprofits often receive aid in boom-or-bust cycles. This year, consider making a monthly pledge. Whether you donate, volunteer, or commit to learning please join me in my quest to be intentional & sustainable! I’m supporting: ForTheGworls a Black trans collective that helps pay for rent & gender affirming surgery in the Black LGBTQ community.”

Ishii previously promoted the organization in 2023 as well, “Today, please consider supporting ForTheGworls, a Black trans-led nonprofit. Our Black trans siblings are especially vulnerable now, and I donated in honor of Juneteenth2023 & Pride2023. But please join me in pledging to do our best to support Black justice year round!”

In February 2023, ahead of the Hogwarts Legacy release, Ishii appeared to support the failed boycott of the game due to J.K. Rowling’s outspoken stance on transgender activists. Ishii wrote, “I used to love Harry Potter. Went to every midnight release, cosplayed, was even in an HP themed improv group. Now I’m happy to instead support & be part of fantasy narratives where ALL are welcome. Trans community, we deserve our own better magic. I will always fight for that.”

She included a video of her stating, “F**k Terfs.”

In a subsequent post, Ishii added, “Muting, but wanted to reiterate: trans rights are human rights. I ask that instead of replying to negative comments to turn that effort towards positive action: a donation, sharing/supporting trans creators & trans joy, or checking in with your trans friends & their happiness!”

Not only does Ishii support body mutilation and transgender ideology, but she also claims that the police are “white supremacist.” Back in 2021, she wrote, “We will not let these terrorists shake our resolve. 2020 showed us that we WILL rise up and make our voices heard. Despite voter suppression, facing down a white supremacist police force, risking health & safety, we hit the polls & streets to say NO MORE. They can’t stop us.”

She added, “Historically, the answer to an attempted coup is to never acknowledge its legitimacy. We will not ignore this. We will treat these terrorist thugs like the unlawful mob they are and hold accountable those responsible for this.”

Ironically, she also posted in 2019 following the shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand that YouTube has “responsibility not to give hatred a voice.”

She wrote, “I hope now you understand that you have a responsibility not to give hatred a voice. Islamophobia and white supremacy do not deserve a platform. The site allows people to disseminate *good* messages & create loving communities. Protect those. Don’t give power to messages of hate.”

On top of hiring Ishii, Sucker Punch hired former Insomniac Games Community Manager and Sweet Baby Inc. defender Thomas Hart to be the company’s Community Manager beginning in April 2024. Hart announced he joined Sucker Punch writing on X, “Incredibly excited to announce that today is my first day at Sucker Punch as a Community Manager!”

He defended Sweet Baby Inc. just a month prior, “This whole Sweet Baby controversy is mind numbingly dumb. Most people have no idea how games are made or what a consultant does. Many don’t even care to listen when someone tries to explain it to them. They would much rather have an other to demonize.”

What do you make of Sucker Punch hiring Ishii to voice Atsu in Ghost of Yōtei? What do you make of the company hiring a Sweet Baby Inc. defender to be its Community Manager?
