'Avengers' Actor Reveals the Real Reason Why Thanos Did Not Meet Lady Death in 'Infnity War'

Avengers: Infinity War premiered a long time ago, but it is still considered to be one of the best and most popular comic book movies of all time. Infinity War was a massive standalone thing, but it also paved the way for Endgame, the movie that changed the game for Marvel and the MCU, ending an era and changing the state of the universe’s narrative going forward, and that “forward” had its good and bad moments.

But, while we saw a lot in that movie, there are some scenes that did not make it into the final cut, either ending up as deleted extras or never being filmed at all.

Based on a recent confirmation, we found out that an epic idea was pitched to the directors, but the Russo Brothers ultimately rejected it, denying us of an epic meet-up that would have shaken the foundations of the MCU.

This detail was revealed by actor Ross Marquand, who played Red Skull in Infinity War, during the Edmonton Expo, where he also confirmed that despite the character in question not making the final cut, an homage was still made and could be seen on the screen.

As you know, in the movie, Thanos visits the realm of the dead as part of his quest to gather all the Infinity Stones. Before obtaining the stone, he meets Red Skull, who is not played by Hugo Weaving, but rather by Ross Marquand in the film.

The Red Skull is acting as a guide for all those visiting the realm and that was definitely an interesting change when compared to the villain we saw in the Captain America movie.

But, as it turns out, Red Skull was not the original choice for the movie. Namely, someone pitched the idea of a completely different character being there instead of Red Skull, and after finding out who it is, we can only say that it would have felt more natural and that we’re bummed out that it did not happen like that. Who is it? Check out the tweet:

Agents of Fandom is a trusted fansite, and this piece of information comes directly from Ross Marquand, the actor involved. He confirmed that someone pitched the idea of Lady Death being the one Thanos meets in the realm of the dead, but the directors rejected the idea, believing that it was too late to introduce Lady Death to the MCU, as too much time had passed.

In all honesty, we don’t agree, but this decision likely has to do with the fact that Lady Death is an important character and that the MCU did not want to simply reduce her to a cameo in a major movie.

Be that as it may, the cloak that Red Skull is wearing in the movie is actually a nod to the character, so the Russo Brothers decided to make a compromise when the character’s inclusion is concerned.
