Logic believes that his latest project Ultra 85came straight from his heart, but all that effort didn’t pay off — at least financially.
The rapper ran into the folks from TMZwhile headed to Detroit, and said that his new goal was to make upbeat “turn-up shit” like Playboi Carti.
“What I’ve noticed is I’ve been on a run of doing super-Hip Hop music — that shit doesn’t pay the bills at all,” he told the site.
“It’s because I made all my money before, doing pop and turn-up shit, and then I’ve been blessed enough to be a musician, to be able to make music from my heart. But next year I’mma fuck ’em up. I’m about to drop all this Playboi Carti trap, turn-up shit, and go get a bag and have fun.
“I did my best, and I feel like it’s important to speak from the heart. But it’s okay to get money, too.”

Logic’s Ultra 85 was in the works for approximately eight years and features guest contributions from T Man The Wizard, DJ Drama, ADÉ, Lucy Rose, Zelooperz and Robert Ivory.
Ultra 85 was the original working title of the 34-year-old MC’s short-lived retirement album in 2020. When he signed off under No Pressure instead, many assumed that he simply changed the name of the package while publishing the same tracklist.
However, the outro of “Heard Em Say” from said LP features a robotic voice saying: “This concludes the No Pressure program/ No Pressure– Ultra 85, welcome to the Ultra 85 program.”
Meanwhile, Logic’s new model Playboi Carti appears on Tyler, The Creator‘s new album Chromakopia, but his contribution is so far limited to the vinyl edition.
Chromakopia arrived on streaming services on October 28, with most fans unaware that the vinyl version of the album contains a bonus song and a guest feature from Carti.
The Atlanta rapper lends a guest verse to the ScHoolboy Q-assisted “Thought I Was Dead,” adopting a deeper voice that he’s used in other recent songs over the jittery production and tribal drums.
A recording of the track has since been leaked online.
