Hailey and Justin Bieber are about to have their first baby together – but Hailey has revealed she is not ‘’super close’’ with her own famous family.

It seems the 27-year-old model, who revealed she and Justin were expecting their first child in May, is distancing herself from actor father Stephen Baldwin after he shared a controversial plea for fans to ‘’pray’’ for his daughter and pop star son-in-law.

‘’I’m not super close with my family at this point in my life because I feel like I’m very independent,’’ Hailey told W Magazine in an interview published on July 23. ‘’I’m my own individual now, and I’ve built my own family.’’

‘’Obviously, I come from the family I come from, and I always recognised that that was different,’’ she told W.

Stephen Baldwin fuelled concerns about Hailey and Justin when he shared a video in February 2024 of evangelical Christian minister Victor Marx asking fans to ‘’pray’’ for the pair.

The video showed Justin Bieber performing the Hillsong tune I Could Sing of Your Love Forever.

But she added that she only had ‘’fond, beautiful’’ memories of her childhood, saying it was ‘’fairly normal’’ given the high profile of her famous family (her father is part of the famous Baldwin acting family, which also includes Alec, Billy and Danny Baldwin).

Marx captioned the video: ‘’Christians, please, when you think of Justin and Hailey, take a moment to offer a little prayer for them, to have wisdom, protection and to draw close to the Lord.’’

Marx went on to write about the ‘’special challenges’’ faced by famous people, saying ‘’the enemy doesn’t want them to draw closer to Jesus … They often face spiritual warfare that seeks to ship-wreck their faith, marriage and life in general.’’

The internet exploded with speculation. Were Justin and Hailey splitting up? Was one or both of them seriously ill? (Justin was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, a virus that causes facial paralysis, in 2022). Could they be battling a drug addiction?

The Biebers did not respond publicly to the plea, but emerged days later to attend a late-night Churchome Church service in Los Angeles, perhaps sending a subtle message that they had not been swayed from their faith.

Over the years, the Biebers have been closely associated with the Hillsong church, although they backed away after high-profile married pastor Carl Lentz was revealed to be having an affair.

In 2021, Justin said he was no longer affiliated with Hillsong and had joined Churchome.

How did Hailey and Justin Bieber meet?

Justin and Hailey first met as youngsters in 2009. They started out as friends, but later reconnected through Hillsong and fell in love.

Prior to their July 2018 engagement, it had been after an on-again, off-again relationship that had involved a major breakup just before Justin popped the question.

The couple married in September 2018 in a New York courthouse. They married in front of friends and family in a separate ceremony in South Carolina a year later.

Is Hailey Bieber pregnant?

Yes!  The couple announced in May 2024 that they were expecting their first child, by which stage Hailey was already six months pregnant.

Hailey said she had managed to keep the pregnancy a secret because she didn’t have much of a baby bump and didn’t really start showing until she was at the six-month mark.

A source close to the pair told Us Weekly they were ‘’elated and so grateful they are expanding their family’’.

‘’It was everything they needed. Hailey is feeling really good,’’ the source said. ‘’She has been laying low and trying not to overdo it with her work commitments.’’

In December 2020, Justin told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that he wanted to have lots of kids.

‘’I’m going to have as many as Hailey is willing to push out,’’ he said. ‘’I’d love to have myself a little tribe.’’
