After years of anticipation and hope, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima was finally announced in the recent PlayStation State of Play. However, even after a lot of anticipation, the game received mixed reactions from the fandom.

The main reason for that is the female protagonist, as in Ghost of Tsushima, fans were given the courtesy to play as Jin Sakai. The main lead being a girl isn’t really the basis of hate, but the actress behind that character is.

Due to so much hate, the ex-Sony boss has spoken up and said that those who don’t like the game just simply shouldn’t buy it.

Why it matters: The long-standing fans of the previous game have the right to criticize the next entry if it doesn’t meet their expectations, but what the ex-Sony boss said makes a lot of sense, too.

Many Ghost of Tsushima fans don’t like the idea of playing as the female lead next, and they have shown their frustration on Twitter. Mightykeef on Twitter highlighted one of those tweets, calling the person an absolute loser.

Shawn Layden, the ex-Sony boss, also gave his two cents on the topic, saying that if you don’t like the game, then just don’t buy it. He says it is a game and entertainment. The creators believe in the story, and they want to make it.

it’s a game. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. In fact, why not make the game you want yourself?

Layden has made some interesting points regarding how the creators want to make this, but shouldn’t they focus on their audience? Fans hating on the female lead is not ideal. However, the fans who are concerned because of the actress behind it have every right to be so.

The actress is actively blocking big names on Twitter who didn’t even contact or speak against her, and looking at her profile, fans are really concerned over the ‘woke’ stuff in Ghost of Yotei.

So, Layden saying ‘don’t buy it’ would definitely spark a controversy. In fact, many fans are roasting him in the comments, saying that the game should be given the Concord treatment. Now, Concord had the same ‘woke’ and many other issues; you can see what happened to that game.

While we find it hard to believe that Ghost of Yotei will get Concord treatment, it is likely to suffer from this controversy.
