Keanu Reeves will be showcasing his versatility in Connecticut this weekend when makes two casino appearances on the same day. He’ll be stopping by Mohegan Sun for an appearance at TerrifiCon before heading to Foxwoods to perform with his band Dogstar.

TerrifiCon announced on Wednesday that Reeves, alongside New Haven artist Ron Garney, will be meeting guests and signing copies of their comic book, “BRZRKR,” on Friday, Aug. 16 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the event. “BRZRKR” is focused around an immortal warlord, who is drawn to look like Reeves, and doesn’t understand his reason for existing, according to Garney. Reeves, who has started in movies like “The Matrix” and “John Wick,” works as a writer for the comic series, which first debuted in 2021.

“Sometimes when I’m looking at him and talking to him, I draw his face mentally. When I actually draw it, I don’t refer to any kind of reference. It siphons through the character and then out to the paper. So it becomes kind of its own identity but looks like him,” Garney said.

Mitch Hallock, who owns TerrifiCon, said he jokingly asked Garney if Reeves could make the show. Hallock and Garney have been friends for years, with Garney frequently attending the annual comic-themed convention. Garney said that Reeves would likely be busy since he is set to perform with his band, Dogstar, later that night at Foxwoods Resort Casino, but was still willing to text the actor and ask. Despite Reeves’ busy schedule, he agreed to come and added that it would be “cool” to meet his fans, according to Garney.

“(Reeves) is as nice as he seems. He’s a very pleasant and genuine person. When I texted him, you gotta understand, he’s so busy, like he’s pulled in so many directions, that even I feel funny asking him to do anything sometimes. I know how committed he is to so many other things,” Garney said.

Hallock added that he also couldn’t believe it when Garney told him that Reeves would be able to attend.

“I said what? I’ve known you for almost 40 years, quit pulling my leg,” Hallock said. “I really didn’t believe him.”

Only 100 guests will be able to meet Reeves during the signing event. Guests will also be required to have a VIP F.O.O.T. 2024 ticket, which is sold out for this year, or a 3-day pass, which is on sale for $170 per person, according to the event’s website. Hallock added that Reeves will likely keep his focus on his comic book during the event, rather than his movie appearances.

“You can’t get a million people in a room to meet the guy…There are limitations. He’s there to talk about his comic book because TerrifiCon is a comic book convention,” Hallock said. “Keanu is there, not as Keanu the actor, not as Keanu the rock star, but as Keanu the comic book creator.”

Reeves joins a number of comic artists and writers at TerrifiCon. Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics Jim Lee, Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, “Justice League” and “Court of Owls” writer Scott Snyder, “The Amazing Spider-Man” artist Mark Bagley, “Batman” writer Brian Azzarello, “X-Men” and “Star Wars” writer Charles Soule, “New Teen Titans” and “Batman” artist José Luis García-López, “American Flagg” artist Howard Chaykin and “The Flash” writer Mark Waid are among the guests announced earlier this year.
