The TVA is one of the two important details of the multiverse explained in the lore of Loki that is shared with the story of Deadpool & Wolverine. These two projects feel consistently of a piece, although some of their details may seem to contradict one another in various ways. The multiverse is a complex and enormous detail to wrap one’s head around, and the ending of Deadpool & Wolverine only makes things more complicated. Still, details of the void may help to reveal Loki as an incredibly powerful force.
Loki Season 1’s Variant Reveals Look Very Different After Cassandra Nova’s MCU Reveal
Loki Season 1 Saw A Number Of Memorable Variants In The Void
Loki season 1 saw several Loki variants, including Classic Loki and Kid Loki, abandoned in the Void, and their context seems different after learning that Cassandra Nova rules there. These characters had been pruned from their timelines and left here outside of time. This allowed for ridiculous characters like Alligator Loki to be shown, and for different comic book and original versions of the protagonist to be seen in all kinds of different ways.
Deadpool & Wolverine similarly used the Void as a place to include all of their Marvel cameos, and this has helped the two films to feel more connected. There have been some MCU theories about the Void becoming Battleworld for the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, which would help to make the productions feel even more interconnected. However, one significant detail from Deadpool & Wolverine has complicated the setting of the Void and its place in Loki.
Loki’s Variants Avoided Being Killed By Alioth & Cassandra Nova
Very Few Have Been Able To Escape Cassandra’s Grasp In The Void
Deadpool & Wolverine makes it clear that Cassandra Nova has control over the bulk of the Void, and that she has hunted down and killed any of the heroes who resisted her. Daredevil and Human Torch are among the many who have been killed by Cassandra Nova, as their resistance wishes to stand against her. Incredibly powerful and manipulative, Cassandra is a terrifying force who keeps the Void under her finger and wants to send every universe there.
Despite this, all of the Loki variants in Loki could exist independently. This could be for many different reasons following all the Deadpool & Wolverine easter eggs, but the biggest likelihood is that Cassandra Nova could not capture or control any of them. Loki has powers beyond the grasp of many Marvel heroes, and it would seem that his variants too have much of this power. Being beyond time and control, these Loki variants may be some of the most powerful beings in the MCU.
Deadpool & Wolverine’s Loki Power Tease Is Supported By Loki Season 2’s Ending
Loki Has Saved The Multiverse With His Incredible Power
The ending of Loki season 2 saw the God of Mischief saving the multiverse by tying all the timelines together and using himself as a new Temporal Loom for the Sacred Timeline. This ending was unexpected and tied Loki directly into the form and function of the entire multiverse. This ability is beyond virtually anyone and shows that Loki is a powerful player in the MCU. While this Loki is trapped here, holding the multiverse together, this power would be shared by his variants across the Void.
Loki is clearly an incredible force, and this power is shared among the other iterations of the hero across the multiverse. It would make sense that a figure who could take this action would scare Cassandra Nova and be beyond her control. It does, however, bring up questions of what may occur with the Loki variants that otherwise exist throughout the multiverse. If Loki can exist beyond time and hold it inside himself, there may be no limits to what the character could do in the MCU.
It seems that details of the multiverse are finally becoming more consistent in the MCU following Loki and Deadpool & Wolverine. This suggests that the details the two share, while they may seem to be at odds, are worth examining in future projects. The existence of other characters like the Loki variants in the Void should be addressed whenever the events of Deadpool & Wolverine are followed up on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
