The Last Of Us fans divided over a new game teaser

The Last of Us and Uncharted developer Naughty Dog has teased its next game, but this news has divided fans.

Before we were graced with the likes of The Last of Us and Uncharted, Santa Monica-based Naughty Dog used to develop relatively unknown titles on PC before it moved onto bigger and greater things, such as Crash Bandicoot as well as Jak and Daxter.

Then in 2007, we would be treated to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune on the PlayStation 3 and The Last of Us in 2013. Today, Naughty Dog is one of Sony’s leading studios and whenever its next game is teased, it’s always a massive event within the video game industry.

As reported by TwistedVoxel, during a recent panel, Naughty Dog president Neil Druckmann revealed that the studio’s next game has been in development since 2020. This would be the same year as when The Last of Us Part II was first released.

Druckmann also said that while Sony Interactive Entertainment does not give him control over how the next game will be announced, it does give him full creative control of development and said that the next game will provide a lot of “player freedom”.

As it stands, we don’t know what the game will be.

Perhaps Uncharted 5 or the rumoured remake of the original 2007 game? Many believe that it’s more likely going to be The Last of Us Part III, a game that Druckmann has already teased in the past, or even something brand new.

Gamers on Reddit have been discussing their ideas.

“I remember reading that Naughty Dog wants to create a science fiction game next. I would be intrigued to see how that would be,” said Key_Shock172.

Could this sci-fi game be The Last of Us in-game comic book series Savage Starlight and if so, has Naughty Dog been teasing us for years? Only time will tell.

“It might be a new IP, this game probably doesn’t come out until 2026 at the earliest or maybe even 2027. If TLOU3 does happen, it might come out in 2029 at the earliest,” suggested Coolers78.

“I would love a new Uncharted game with new characters. Maybe outer space post-apocalypse trading searching for alien relics,” said a wishful Nichi1971.

“Hear me out, Sam Drake game. Insert him into any historical treasure hunt. Have him go through character growth to finally get over his greediness,” C_Cooke1 explained. “End it with him showing up at Drake’s house for Thanksgiving. Sully is involved too.”

“Surely it’s TLOU3?” replied IBeMadToo, putting it simply.

Hopefully, it’s only a matter of time until Naughty Dog officially reveals its next project and when that happens, we’ll update you right away.
