In an early concept for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red considered a scene where Geralt and Avallac’h would visit Night City, the setting of Cyberpunk 2077. This idea was meant to be an Easter egg during the ‘Through Time and Space’ quest, offering a glimpse into the studio’s upcoming project.
The scene’s script, dating back to around 2012, has been uncovered through datamining efforts. In this sequence, Geralt expresses his discomfort with the futuristic environment, remarking on the unpleasant smells and noise. Avallac’h explains that it’s merely another reality, technologically advanced yet flawed, inhabited by humans rather than elves.
Additionally, there was a plan for Geralt to give a coin to a beggar in Night City. This beggar would later appear in Cyberpunk 2077, having prospered from Geralt’s generosity.
Ultimately, this crossover scene was not included in the final version of The Witcher 3. Instead, the ‘Through Time and Space’ quest features Geralt traversing various realms, such as a desert, a poisoned valley, an underwater area, and a frozen tundra.
