McAfee asked his fellow analysts on Wednesday’s show for their Super Bowl predictions ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Ty Schmit claimed the Kansas City Chiefs would win the three-peat, beating the Green Bay Packers in the finale.

But Connor went a different way, stating he believed the Jets would face the Detroit Lions in next February’s showdown.

And he had a bold prediction for Rodgers as the four-time MVP returns from Achilles surgery.

“I’m going to go ahead and take the MVP of the league,” Connor said.

“New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers beating the Detroit Lions.”

“In the Super Bowl?!” spluttered McAfee in response.

Connor responded that his prediction only held if the Jets’ talented roster could “stay healthy.”

“Mike Williams, Garret Wilson, Breese Hall,” he continued.

“They have reloaded their entire offensive line. Everyone thinks Rodgers is just some big, dumb hippie.

“In reality, he is the greatest ball thrower in the history of the NFL.

“I genuinely do think he will win the MVP and they will figure it out.”

Connor went on to claim the Jets had “one of the best defenses in the NFL.”

“Hell yeah! @BostonConnr,” one fan responded on X.

“Smartest thing Boston has ever said,” laughed another.

Pat McAfee’s playing days

Pat McAfee enjoyed a hugely successful stint before switching to a career in the media.

The talk show star played punter in the NFL for eight seasons from 2009 to 2016.

He was a seventh round NFL Draft pick in 2009 out of West Virginia and spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts.

The ex-punter was named to the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2016, and he was a first team All-Pro in 2014, as well.

McAfee owns the unique NFL record of the highest career net average punting yards with 41.4 yards while his longest ever punt was 74.

“I’m not sure you guys are thinking enough about special teams. Think how close most games are in the NFL, with the new kick off rules, it could seriously switch around the hierarchy in the NFL,” countered a third.

Rodgers, 40, played just one drive last season after joining the Jets from the Packers.

He underwent surgery on a torn Achilles suffered in Week 1.

The ten-time Pro Bowler won a Super Bowl in 2010 and has led the NFL in passer rating four times.

But he has courted controversy already this offseason after missing minicamp.

The Jets begin their 2024 challenge against the San Francisco 49ers on September 9.

New York has never won a Super Bowl title and last appeared in the showpiece way back in 1969.
