The Fallout TV series, based on the popular video game franchise, debuted on Prime Video in April. It was so well-received that it was renewed for a second season within just a week of its release, and one of the cast members gave an update about the anticipated second season. The series stars Walton Goggins as “The Ghoul,” Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean, and Aaron Moten as Maximus. The second season is expected to continue exploring the interconnected series introduced in Season 1. One of the cast members gave an update about the show and hinted that they’re not filming yet.
Purnell spoke with Cinemablend ahead of the premiere of her new series Sweetpea. During the interview, she was asked for an update about Fallout Season 2. Unfortunately, she couldn’t share any definite update because there was none. “Honestly, if I had anything, I would share it, because I have no loyalty, clearly,” she told the outlet. “No, I’m just kidding. I don’t know anything. I haven’t got a script yet. I’m excited. I want to get going. I want to get started. So I don’t know.”
Purnell loves playing Lucy in the series. In a previous interview, she explained what drew her to the character, including her plans for it. “That’s the part that really drew me to this role and the part I really wanted to do. Lucy, in Episode 1, she’s really funny, she’s really strong, she’s really smart, but I wasn’t interested in playing this perfectly put-together character for eight episodes,” Purnell explained. “I wanted to destroy her. I wanted to break down and get to the very limits of desperation, where you get to when you are forced to survive.” Purnell admitted that she wanted Lucy to be “really messed up” and even had a discussion with writers about it. She also shared that her favorite version of Lucy was in the third and fourth episodes because she was destitute and was even used as human bait. Lucy was visibly suffering in those episodes and Purnell loved it. “You need to feel how far she’s fallen from Episode 1.’ I loved that,” she shared.Fallout was highly praised by fans and critics, so it’s understandable why there are high expectations for the second season. Among the things fans want to see are more monsters, especially the deathclaw. The beast was not adequately introduced in Season 1, but its remains were seen in the sand when Hank made his way to what appeared as New Vegas. Season 2 is expected to head to New Vegas and explore the relationships between Mr. House, Hank, and the people in the Vault-Tec meeting profiting from the war.
Showrunner Graham Wagner previously gave a promising update. According to him, the real tension for Season 2 was to deliver it “without sacrificing anything in the process.” He added that it was easier to write the second season because what they did in the first season sped things up. However, they were still figuring out the tone and the sound mix. There’s no official release date for Fallout Season 2, but it is expected to arrive in early 2026.
Fallout Season 1 streams on Amazon Prime Video.
