An FBI spy expert explains why Mission: Impossible – Fallout is fairly accurate, except for one detail. The 2018 movie again brought back Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt as he and his team searched for stolen plutonium that John Lark and the Apostles planned to use to cause chaos. Henry Cavill joined the Mission: Impossible cast as August Walker, who worked for the CIA. It was then revealed that August was a double agent, particularly in the interrogation scene where he spilled the truth to Benji Dunn, who was disguised as Apostles leader Solomon Lane.
In a video from Insider, former double agent Naveed Jamali broke down the interrogation scene in detail, pointing out that “the IMF would try to trip him up and get him to admit is completely believable.” He further explains that the recording device in the background is an important method to “validate” the meeting. While Benji’s mask and fake arrest are also what happens in real life, a foot chase is rare. The expert rated the film seven out of 10 for accuracy. Watch Jamali’s full comment below:
What This Comment Means For Mission: Impossible – Fallout
It’s Authentic and Fun
This isn’t the first time a spy expert praised the accuracy of Mission: Impossible – Fallout since the critically acclaimed movie has a reputation for its high quality. Jamali’s comment further explains what makes this movie so successful, giving insight into the number of details that are parallel to real-life scenarios, especially when most films in the franchise are only known to deliver over-the-top action.
Jamali’s comment highlights the film’s mix of entertaining elements and authentic storytelling, revealing the impressive amount of research that goes into making it. Mission: Impossible – Fallout separates itself from the rest of the franchise by offering a fairly accurate depiction of a spy’s world and taking the audience on a deep dive into the complicated and mysterious world of espionage.
Our Take on Mission: Impossible – Fallout
It’s The Best In The Franchise
Fallout is arguably one of the best Mission: Impossible movies due to its espionage elements and action. Not only does it include exhilarating scenes like when Tom Cruise jumps off a C-17 at 25,000 feet, but it also has intricate character development and a tight storyline.
There are so many great moments in the film that I can go on about, but what makes the movie the best in the franchise is that it treats every story aspect seriously while delivering an entertaining viewing experience. Thus, the expert opinion offers a fresh look into Mission: Impossible – Fallout, pointing out some incredible details that I may have missed the first time. For those reasons, it’s time for a rewatch.
