A box office analyst predicts that Paramount and Hasbro’s latest Transformers film, Transformers One, is a “likely flop.”
In its debut weekend at the box office, The-Numbers reported that Transformers One only grossed $24.6 million domestically underperforming box office predictions from Box Office Theory’s Shawn Robbins who believed that the film would bring in between $35 million. It did add another $14 million internationally for a global gross of $38.6 million.
Given this poor performance, box office analyst OMB Reviews declared that the film is a “likely flop.”

He stated, “This has a $75 million budget, which is definitely on the lower end for these kinds of movies. This is still not where you want to start your movie. Maybe word of mouth will help this movie, but as of right now, it’s looking like probably going to end up being a flop.
“Remember that most films on average make about a third of their entire global box office in their opening weekend,” he explained. “If that still holds true for this movie you’re looking at it barely getting over a $100 million worldwide by the end of its run, maybe a max of $150 [million].”
Not only is the film likely to flop if it follows past trends, but it also had the second worst opening weekend in the franchise’s modern history. It just just barely beat 2018’s Bumblebee, which had a domestic opening of $21.6 million.
However, if you factor in inflation, Bumblebee grossed $27.08 million besting Transformers One.
While the film is likely to flop, those who have seen it appear to have enjoyed it. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 97% All Audience score with an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars.
On IMDb, the film has a 7.9 rating with a plurality of users (30.5%) giving the film a 10 out of 10. The unweighted mean for the film is an 8.3.
